Celebrity Prime Foods Selling without fixed prices, I truely found out how overpriced they are Anaheim, California
I have been doing business with Celebrity Prime Foods for - would you believe - several years. And yes I even have several of their "Premium" appliances.
I "felt" (it's hard to know with them) that I was paying alot for what I was getting but I was happy with the quality and they did make exchanges when neccessay.
It wasn't until I placed my last order that I truely found out how overpriced they are.
I told my order taker that I still had a freezer (yes the large "commercial" one I bought from them)full of stuff and that I wanted to place a minimum order. She told me that a minimum order was $1100 but that I would still get my 40% discount.
I primarily buy steaks from them (ribeye and poterhouse mostly)but I also like several of their frozen entrees like lasagna, canaloni, meatballs and breaded shrimp.
I ordered a mix of about a dozen of the above items and told the person taking the order to make up the rest with the 2 kinds of steak that I like. She told me that it would be 2 Porterhouse and 5 ribeye (ribeye are 2 to a pack making it a tolal of 10 steaks).
When I sat down and tried to figure out what that was costing me I came to the conclusion that even if the entee items were $25 each - they should only be $10 each tops and even then that's a lot - I would be paying about $100 each for the steaks. AND THAT IS WITH MY 40% DISCOUNT.
I had several mind bogeling "run-around" conversations with some manager who initially tried to convince me of the quality of their products - hence according to him the price was worth it - followed by other conversations telling me that I could not just use them to buy steaks but that I had to have a more diverse mix to my order - HUH????????????
I am now considering contacting the Attorney General in CA.
