Cellular Choices - Wireless Service Center lied to me,tricked me into revealing my social security, drivers' licence, and credit card numbers, and charged my Chase credit card almost $500.00 for a T Mobile cell phone even though T Mobile had absolutely no knowlege of me or my credit card number Largo Maryland
I wanted a new cell phone because my old one didn't pick up a signal well. I put Cingular in the search engine, but I came up with a free phone ad for Cingular which i thought was legitimate. It wasn't. I had reached Cellular Choices's web site. I ordered the phone and then found out that Cingular's cell phones didn't do well at Eden Estates, my assisted living facility. When I called Cellular Choices to cancel, the gentleman on the phone was nice about my cancellation and sent me an e-mail acceptance of my cancellation.
I was then determined to switch to T Mobile, which gives a good signal at Eden Estates. I used my search Engine again to find T Mobile. I thought that I was on T Mobile's web site, but I was actually on the same go between that I had reached before, Cellular Choices. I bought the same supposedly free phone. In another e-mail, Cellular Choices told me that I needed to fax copies of my drivers' license and my social security card to T Mobile. I did. I was told on the phone by the same gentleman who cancelled my Cingular order that T Mobile had accepted me and even though the advertised model was out of stock, he agreed to switch to another model which would have the same rebate and would cost me nothing after the rebates.
I became suspicious when I tried to call my own ground phone with my cell to test the signal with T Mobile, and I was required to place a 1 as if it were long distance. I had moved from Houston, Texas in October, 2005, and apparently Cellular had not changed the number to Bedford. I then called T Mobile to see why they had not changed my number to Bedford.
T Mobile had never heard of me or of my account number 502450806. Their customer representative could not say whether or not they ever did business with Cellular Choices, or if the fax number (1-866-287-0064)I had used to fax copies of my social security number and my drivers' license number belonged to them.
By this time I realized that I had been ripped off or worse. I called Chase Master Card to see if I had been charhed by Cellular Choices. I had. One charge was over three hundred and another was for $100. Chase told me that I had to wait 24 - 48 hours before they could file a complaint. My only choice was to call the Bedford police, Officer T. Shelley #930 was very helpful. He actually talked to the gentlkeman at Cellular Choices. who promised over the phone and on an e-mail to cancel my order and credit my credit card.
Officer Shelley told me that Cellular Choices might be just a rip-off or it might be a more serious scam. This gentleman now has my Social Security card and my Drivers' License numbers, as well as my credit card number.
