Order was placed to deliver 6 cubic yards (CY) to residential site - 1 of 3 pours to occur over the following week.  Due to extreme heat wave, the request was to add ice cubes to the concrete before delivery as part of the moisture needed in the cement mix.  A common request when the high for the day will be around 112 degrees.  You pay dearly for this request... $709 for 6 CY of mix.

Delivery arrived near on time, around 7am, driver instructed to back up truck through 16 foot, yes 16' double gate in alley.  driver refused - said it was not possible.  Instead backed up at far end of porch (47 foot long) through a 20'gate off street. Concrete had to dropped in wheelbarrows and rolled 47 feet to the end other end of porch.  Immediately noticed the crete did not include ice; driver acted dumb to the request - What could we do? hadd to take delivery - they had te money by way of check they demanded the day before.  So, 3 guys hustled crete while another tamped and screeted the surface.  Moved along as fast as they could.  Because the crete set too fast and the delivery went slower than anticipated the final surface had imperfections that eventually will require breaking out over 1 CY and re-pouring.  Of course I will NOT use CEMEX for the delivery.

After the experience, we cancelled the next 2 pours and went with CALPortland for the next two.... YES the driver of an 11 CY truck backed up between the same 16' wide gates and delivered 6 CY of mix to an area directly adjacent to the area the CEMEX driver refused... an 11 CY truck is the ones you see driving down the street with the two extra axles usually hanging below the belly of the cement truck.  FWIW, the 6 CY delivery from CALPortnad cost only 591 (no ice cubes needed the day of delivery)

CEMEX did refund $37 of the 709.... FAR FAR LESS than expected - all deliveries have a "delta" charge usually aroud $100 or more to cover unexpected delays, return of full load, etc.  Now I know why they did not accept a CC - only check.

I spoke to the dispatcher at the local Coolidge, AZ site who sounded like he didn't care about my issues and passed me on to a gal at the Phoenix location.  Speaking to her all I got was an answer that $37 will be refunded by mailed check from their out of state office.  Could not explaing the low refund.  She too did not care about the "no ice" issue, poor delivery service or extended delay to unload the mix because of poor driver skills.

NO, I will NEVER use their service again - I would rent a mixer and mix my own crete if CEMEX was the last place on earth!!

Thank GOD for CALPortland - they had to drive 30 miles farther, sold the final product for less and did an excellent service over the next two pours.  Glad this experince is now over.  Good riddens CEMEX
