Cendant Corporation: Texas American Title Committed forgery, fraud, altered original closing documents HUD statements, US Patriot Act Disclosures before filing as public record on home purchase,Ripoff Houston Texas
Texas American Title (Houston, Tx), owned by Cendant Corporation, has committed fraud and forgery on my closing documents for my first home purchase.
After requesting a new copy of closing documents on a condo I purchased July 30, 2004, Texas American Title responded they had 'misplaced' my file. November 2005, I requested the documents (at the request of my attorney wanting to investigate the blank documents I signed at closing) from Texas American Title Co. After waiting 4 months, I filed with the Texas Dept of Insurance. The file was recovered Feb. 8, 2006 and I received a copy of what the Title Company had filed.
The documents were different than what I received at my closing. I noticed that 2 pages had apparent forgeries (US Patriot Act Data Collection) The HUD statement was different. Instead of $9,200 going to Wilshire Consulting, the document now read $17,728.09. Included was the Owners Title Policy, originally excluded, noting a $60,300.00 lien on my property. The Uniform Mortgage Application was also ommitted from this new copy.
On Feb. 10, 2006 I notified Texs American Title of my belief that there were altered and missing documents. I have heard nothing since.
