Cenlar purchased our mortgage in January of this year. Soon after we both became unemployed missing 5 months of income therefore we were behind a few times but never in danger of foreclosure. In that time Cenlar charged us "Home inspection fees" of $16.50 every time we were late. They claim they send out someone to take pictures of the house to make sure it wasn't vacant. The problem with that is it's a very rural home on a dead end road with 2 locked gates. This means the person was climbing fences if they even were taking pictures.

Most recentely is we are 28 days late on our payment and we get a knock on our door at 8:45pm on Sunday night. My husband and I went out with guns drawn as we were not expecting company especially at that time of night. It was a person from JMA to take pics of our property and to give me a form to fill out in case I wanted to apply for one of their repayment programs. I had just applied on the phone and been denied so why send someone out like that? It felt like a scare tactic so I called and spoke to a CS Supervisor who reached out to their loan consulting department and guess what? They couldn't tell me if I would be charged and why I was charged a $60 Field Chase fee the month before.

In other words, this company reminds me of a terrorist organization in they are allowed to send people out to take pics of the property we still own any time they want and can also charge us fees without explanation anytime they want.

How can this be legal? They purchased our loan so we never gave them permission to step foot on the property.

So you are an attorney? Or perhaps being paid by Cenlar? Or perhaps a representative of Cenlar? Or just a troll that attacks people that are hoping to find a resolution to an issue. Put up your cape you are not helping them. They have a ton of other complains on other sites. I have another mortgage with Chase and in the 10 years dealing with them I have NEVER had these issues. I then owner financed my Chase house to a couple and I would exhaust all forms of communication BEFORE showing up at night unannounced. Cenlar is very unprofessional in other ways but back to MY issue. The person showing up was not the gripe. The hour was disrespectful and the other charges could not posslbly be legitimate as I can't see someone climbing over 2 gates. I want Cenlar to respond and maybe if I can see the pics of the house using date/time stamps I would be obliged to pay the $16.50ea charge for "Property Inspection". The $60 for "Field Chase" is also not legit because they did this in July and we never had anyone come see us until last night.

I called Cenlar and they could not tell me why they charged me $60 for a "Field Chase" when I was not late on my mortgage. That is why I complained on here.

Sir hats off to you if you own your home are have never struggled with mortgage payments but with everything going on in America today I still think that a person indebted to a mortgage company can still be treated with respect.

Actually they have every right to enter THIER property. Perhaps YOU should look up the difference about ownership. YOU are NOT the owner of that property, THEY ARE!!!! SO they are well within thier rights to come on to property they own for ANY REASON!!!! You USED to own it, but once YOU mortgaged the property for MONEY it became THIER property. YOU at best are a renter. Until the mortgage is paid off, whomever actually holds the note on the property can come and go as they please. As long as THEY can show paperwork that YOU owe them money on a note then YOU will just have to deal with strangers setting foot on the property. YOU dont have to like it, but it IS the law. Just as YOU would have the right to enter ANY property YOU own, THEY have the same rights.
