Centennial Windows Ripoff Poor quality shoddy installation terrible service London Ontario

In November of 1997, we had Centennial Windows Ltd. replace our siding, all storm windows and front storm door. First of all, they were a FULL WEEK late from the contracted installation date, claiming they were "really busy" and "behind schedule". I should have cancelled the job then and there, but unfortunately, I didn't.

After the job was completed, everything seemed OK at first. Then the problems started - air leaks around some of the windows and also a couple of water leaks during heavy rains. They seem to have fixed the water leaks. Their solution to the air leaks - silicone caulking around the OUTSIDE of the window casing!!! This makes redecorating a challenge, because paint won't adhere to the silicone, making a neat paint job around the windows impossible. Window casing is decoration only - any leaks should be stopped BEFORE the casing goes on.

Closer examination of the siding indicates rather sloppy installation. From a distance it appears OK, but up close? Forget it!

The front storm door is another story. I've lost track of the number of times the handle has been replaced. It is broken again as I write this report, and I had to take it completely off so we could open the door. The handles are on "back order" from their supplier - they "hope" to have them soon.

I have been fighting with this company for 9 years now and getting nowhere. Their products, based on my experience, are junk. Their installation is sub-standard. The service is absolutely TERRIBLE! The owner, Terry Lee, does not take phone calls or answer email messages. Gee... I wonder why???

Bottom line: DO NOT deal with this company! They will rip you off!

I have had an ongoing battle with Centennial Windows for nearly 18 years. The windows are substandard and the installation was sloppy and unprofessional. Service is terrible as well - I'm still waiting as I write this (May 12, 2015) for a repair that was supposed to be done over a year ago.

Bottom line: DO NOT BUY Centennial Windows!

Centennial Windows (London, Ontario) - SERVICE UPDATE

#3Author of original report

Wed, August 01, 2007

Shortly after I filed this report, I was contacted by Mr. George Warren, customer service manager for Centennial Windows. He came to Windsor with his service manager to personally inspect the installation and indicated he was prepared to do whatever was required to resolve all the issues. He agreed that I definitely had some legitimate concerns.

Since that visit, the service team and service manager(s) have been back on two separate occasions. Two storm doors have been replaced (not just the defective handles, but the entire door). My two large double casement windows have been re-framed (inside) with the correct window casing (baseboard was used the first time), and extra foam insulation was added where required. Two improperly finished corners on the siding have been repaired. Adjustments were made on a couple of windows to make them slide easier.

Mr. Warren called me today to make sure the storm door(s) were working properly and that there were no other concerns.

Admittedly, it did take some time to get all these issues resolved. However, through Mr. Warren's actions, Centennial Windows has stepped up to the plate and made every effort to correct any and all problems. I am confident at this point that they (Centennial Windows) will take care of any future problems, should they arise.

I hereby wish to pubicly thank Mr. Warren for getting all this done in a timely manner, and also for his follow-up call today to make sure there were no further problems with the storm door(s). I am glad that everything has finally been resolved!
