Complaint Review: Centerforce Clutch

So to start I fell for this product as a lot do. It’s supposed to be a better clutch and that may be right on paper, but if coupled with poor manufacturing and an unwillingness to stand behind it what’s the point? I purchased the expensive Centerforce Dual Friction clutch for my 1969 Camaro with a 396 BluePrint Engine, TKO 600 5 speed and etc. After installation and driving the car we noticed a strong vibration so we determined that it’s coming from the flywheel/clutch region. Pulled the trans and ran the engine with clutch on the flywheel and it clearly vibrated. Removed the clutch and smooth as glass. Called Centerforce and they said to send it back. Yes send it back at “my cost” but I did. Two weeks go by and they had it for a week but no calls. I called them and they said they haven’t gotten to it yet. Another week and still nothing.

After three weeks I get angry and call Centerforce. They finally check it and they call with this. “We found the clutch is out of balance but still in tolerance” Really? Exactly how much “out of tolerance” do you go? That clutch was about to destroy my new motor and/or trans. I told them I want a new clutch and not the old one and of course they said NO. They would send me back the old clutch but I told them I can’t trust it and to just dispose of it. So about $500 wasted plus I had to buy a new clutch. I called McLoed one from them and its perfect. What is interesting is that the dual friction clutch from McLoed will hold 650 HP and the pedal pressure feels less than the Centerforce. I’m not running a hydraulic. So, my story ends with a simple fact and that is Centerforce is crap clutch that is clearly a gimmick and that their manufacturing tolerances are below par. If you want to trust this clutch go for it. I personally will never again.
