I'm a real estate investor and I used a referral service online to find a licensed and insured roofing company to "certify my roof" that was in the process of being completed on one of my properties. I was contacted by Matthew Roden with Centerpoint Roofing in Temple, GA, he was one of the owners. I expressed my concern because this was my first "flat roof" and I wanted to make sure that the roof was being completed properly. I requested that he come out in a couple of days,  once my contractors were finished with the roofing job but Matt Roden insisted that as long as 80% was completed he would be able to determine if the roof was being replaced satisfactory.

Matt Roden called and informed me that he inspected the roof-STATED THE GUYS WERE DOING A GREAT JOB and really gained my confidence that everything looked good.(roof, drains exits sloped correctly, and properly sealed) I paid him in full and received a "Letter of Certificate" . A couple of days later I felt very comfortable paying the roofing company that I  hired to complete the roof and paid them in full. (Flat roof s are VERY expensive!)

Within one week of completion, the roof the was leaking in over several areas in the ceiling and the water wasn't draining off the roof AND within one month we had to replace the roof. I contacted Matt Roden because I wanted to know why he certified my roof???  I had two companies come out after having  all the issues WITH CEILING LEAKS and they stated "this roof shouldn't have been certified" . Matt Roden stated, "I hope you received a warranty".  I couldn't believe what I was hearing and requested his license number and he refused. He also refused to refund me the money I paid him to certify my roof.

I WAS RIPPED OFF, MISLED, AND DECEIVED BY MATTHEW RODEN AT  CENTERPOINT ROOFING!!!!!

Contactors Beware!!!!  Spoke with customer regarding a roof project she was working on. Wanted us to look and see if it was being done correctly. ( kinda odd I thought)  Went out ot the property, looked at a roof that was in progress.  Told her it was looking good so far, Her contractors were not finished.  Mind you before I came I was told they were almost done.  No where close!!  She asked how much I would charge her to put it on paper saying everything was being done correctly to this point. ( I should have knew right then scam city) Didnt really have a price for that. Never been asked to do that. So I figured my standard trip charge plus a little for gas.  150 sounded fair considering I had to drive little over an hour. So I went back to the office printed up a short statement saying everything looked right to this point met with her later and collected my fee. Easy breezy right?  WRONG!!  Few weeks later she had roof problems and for whatever reason felt I should be accountable for replacing  or repairing a roof I did not even do. My thought is call the people who did the work! They should be the ones to warranty it. But I think I can see how this worked. Theory Here.... She probably shopped around and found the absolute cheapest contractor she could find to save a buck! You know what they, Cheaper isnt always better!  So she found her a cheap roofer ( speculation here) probably uninsured and unlicensed. Let them do the work for the low ball price and get a Licensed Insured reputable Contractor like myself ( The Sucker) to put something on paper for a minimal fee saying it all looked right. Then when it falls apart on her attempt to hold me accountable for a project I did not complete. Why would I repair or replace a roof I did not do for a 150 dollar trip charge. And after all that aggravation and my time and gas will I refund the 150? Absolutely Not!!

( Final THought)

Contractors Beware!!! Their are consumers out there that will get you or try to.

Unfortunately the way the system now is structured the consumer is always right and the contractor is wrong

CONTRACTORS BEWARE OF THESE SCAMS!!!!!
