Mike represented the dog he sold me as being Microchipped and gave me supporting documentation.  However, neither. PetSmart or Maricopa  County Animal control can locate a chip.  When advised of the issue, Mike emailed that he had installed the chip himself, and has ignored all attempts to resolve the issue.  He does not return phone calls, text messages, or emails.  I will have to pay to have the dog chipped, something that was included in the price of the dog, according to the documents Mike gave me when I took possession of the dog.  He is a rip off artist!

I too am a volunteer at CAAR who happened to be at the rescue the day this whole scuttlebut took place. This gentleman was in fact offered a new chip. I'd like to add that I assisted Mike in implanting the first chip (held the dog) so I KNOW there was a chip implanted. This gentleman could not be consoled with anything Mike attempted to do for him. I was standing across the room while Mike was on the phone with him and could hear him screaming at Mike through the phone from across the room.

He refused the new chip and refused to bring the dog back for a refund of the adoption fee and was using extremely foul language.

After the discussion with Mike, (if you can call it a discussion), He blew up our phone, (36 calls in all) leaving threatening messages and saying that he was going to shut down the rescue, among other things. He then emailed Mike 57 times. So yes, Mike started ignoring him. I would've done the same.

This gentleman is clearly unstable and just could not be delt with. What a shame. I can only hope that he is not mistreating the dog the way he did us.

I made Maria J. Crane aware of this report while giving the Central Arizona Animal Rescue negative feedback on their Facebook site. Ms. Crane got very rude and abusive in her responses. I was reporting a possible case of animal abuse, as others had and I made mention of this case of bait and switch. They removed all negative feedback from there site after that. I personnaly made a report to the Humane Society of Arizona about this organization. Oh, I should note that when I told this older lady about this she had no idea of the circumstances at that time. So, I would be very cautious about doing business with this place.

What a great work of fiction you filed, Maria.  Almost a full year later you respond with a completely inaccurate response.  No one ever offered to rechip the animal, and I doubt you can even tell me it's name.

We never spoke at all, so you are relying on the word of your volunteer, who stopped answering my calls after just two calls.  As for the "tirade," that is a complete fabrication.

The fact is, your poor practices have earned you the derision of the Maricopa County Animal Control, and other shelters.  I had the animal rechipped at the County, and I happen to know you acquire animals with the intent of selling them to law enforcement agencies.  You are not running a charitable organization, you are running a business.  And not very well, I might add..

I am a volunteer at Central Az Animal Rescue and was there when this gentleman was offered another chip free of charge by Mike, owner of the rescue. This guy continued his tyraid, after being offered the new chip. The dog WAS chipped originally but the chip was defective. Completely out of Mike's control. He was offered another chip, but refused the offer. All he had to do was bring the dog back and we wouldve implanted the new chip. He refused. Mike also gave him the option to bring the dog back for a full refund of the adoption fee, which was also refused. What is he supposed to do? So there you have it. You can only do what you can for people. Some people are just not happy unless they have something to complain about.

I pity these folks.  Maris C.
