My family "camped out in a house in Jasper County, Georgia for 28 days.

Due to the exorbitant deposits charged by Central GA EMC and the realtor, we didn't have enough money to rent a moving van and bring our belongings from storage.

As a result, there were NO appliances in the home.

We were forced to drive the 50 plus miles to Jackson, Georgia and pay
$325 via credit card plus $25 in cash in order to have our electricity connected.

Explaining to the manager of the EMC monopoly that we were disabled, had minor children and our total income was from Social Security didn't matter to her
in the least. She was adamant that the deposit be paid immediately.

We waited until 9 pm that same night until the truck arrived.

Before the end of the 28 days, I called the EMC and requested that service be terminated in the am hours of March 3rd, 2008. They complied, but still charged us for 34 days service at an enormous rate.

"TOTAL CURRENT ELECTRIC BILL DUE DATE 03/28/08 203.62"

"PREVIOUS AMOUNT DUE 30.00" [Note, there is no "previous amount"]

"TOTAL AMOUNT DUE 91.38"

"SERVICE CHARGE 30.00"

The charges are fraudulent. I have filed a complaint with the FCC, contacted the news media and the Governor's office. There will also be an article about this company's practices in an Atlanta newspaper very soon.

I fully intend to spread the word about this company until they are investigated and made to comply with the law.

They stole nearly 255.00 of my 350.00 deposit and I want it back.
