In September 2005, my 19 year old son Matt and his 19 year old girlfriend Alexis went to look at cars. They stopped at this dealership and were immediately told they would qualify for new cars. My son had a part time job working for minimum wage at Mc Donald's. They applied financing and the next day went back to the dealership to find out if they were approved. They were told that my son's girlfriend Alexis, had bad credit and did not qualify but that they could get 2 loans for 2 brand new Kia Rios on Matt's income and credit alone. First of all, Matt made under 10,000 a year and had only been working at Mc Donald's since May of 2005. Alexis had not been at her job very long and did not make much more. They also had just moved into an apartment together and their rent was over 550. per month. Matt was granted 2 loans for 2 cars with NO prior credit history and income that barely got them by!!!! He was financed through Kia Motor Finance and Wachovia Bank. Now it is 2 an a half years later and his girlfriend and he have split up and she stopped making her car payments. My son is getting collection calls since he is the sole person on the contracts. I called the banks and found out that loan payoffs are DOUBLE what the car is worth. Both loans are upside down by about 7000.00 on a crappy basic Kia Rio that they paid almost double for. I contacted the banks and wanted to know how a 19 year old with no credit history and a pauper's income could possibly be approved for one loan, let alone 2 loans and they told me that the dealer is the one who does the credit checks and then gives the go ahead to the banks. I have been trying to contact the finance department at Central Kia and no one will talk to me or return my calls. I checked with the Better Business Bureau to find several similar complaints about this dealership that has earned them an UNSATISFACTORY rating. I googled Central Kia only to find more complaints from many disgruntled customers!!!! My friend went there last week looking for a car and she said the sales people were like VULTURES attacking fresh roadkill and kept telling her what she needed and wanted!!! These people are crooks and will do anything to get a sale even if it means fraudulently filling out paperwork and working the figures they want the banks to see!! Now my son is responsible for 2 cars he never could afford because they required no cosigner. His credit is ruined for a long time. How would these people like if it there child was taken advantage of by unscrupulous sales people like this. Most 19 year olds have no clue about making a major purchase like this. Do yourselves a favor and STAY CLEAR of these scum bags. We have contacted a lawyer and were told we have a case. As soon as we get the contracts we are pursuing a lawsuit. Anyone for a CLASS ACTION suit? By the number of complaints the BBB has unresolved and the ones posted on the net, I'll bet there is a class action lawsuit just waiting to happen.

It is 2 and a half years after your son and his girlfriend were taken to the cleaners. Where were you and your advice in 2005? Why didn't he have a copy of the contract after he signed it?

Just wondering if you had an update on your bad experience. I am a victim of Central Kia and was hoping for the name of an attorney who is familiar with Central Kia and their deceptive trade practices?

Central Kia Refuses to Furnish Copies of Contracts!!!

After several calls and messages left on voicemail to the finance department as well as to the operator requesting a call back from them in reference to this case, we received no contact from them. Matthew went to Central Kia yesterday, 4/17/08 and personally requested copies of his contract. I know they have them because the receptionist told me she looked it up and found it. He said that he waited for about 1 hour and got nowhere. He said he saw the woman he requested the copies from go into an office and came back saying the finance manager was too busy and there was no one to help him at that time. He also said there were many employees standing around doing nothing and he could tell he was being given the runaround. I have contacted the state bar of Texas and was referred to an attorney today who informed me that the statute of limitations for this type of case is 4 years so we still have plenty of time to file a lawsuit. This information is for other people who were also scammed by these crooks and might want to take action. This company needs to be put out of business!! I will keep you informed of our progress after we meet with the attorney next week.
