I have been going on an annual goose hunt in Nebraska for the past six years, this year for traveling purposes I used a different guide than usual…..big mistake. I Just got done w/ a weekend goose hunt w/ this outfitter....worse goose hunt I have ever experienced. Our guide was completely unprofessional, very nice kid but had no idea what it means to be a paid guide. I should have known that this was going to be a horrible hunt when they wanted all of the money (deposit already paid) before they even want to take you into the field.

Hunted out of a pit blind Sat. and Sun. there were tons of birds flying but nowhere near where they had this pit set up and our guide could not call any birds in. The few birds that did come in were flaring and not committing, the decoying was horrible and you never knew where the geese would land, in front of the blind, behind or to the side (pretty dangerous in my estimation).

The hunting was bad on Sat but even worse on Sun, one bird came in the entire day. I just dont think they have access to any other land than that one pit blind in a cow pasture. When asked what we wanted to do w/ our birds, I asked that they be breasted out, the guide was fairly reluctant to breast out our birds and there were only 10, for 4 hunters.

I called the owner the following day to discuss what had transpired, I never heard back from him. I would highly recommend that you do not use this outfitter.

yaaay, I am glad that your hunt went bad. I am sorry, but anyone that feels the need to go out and hurt poor animals that are out and about living their lives.  So many people now taking over the population these poor animals have less and less room to be wild animals...it's heartbreaking. .and people are making money off the death of these poor animals ugh....I hope it makes you all feel more manly out hurting harmless animals and spend in the blood money ..karma sweeties..karma

As the owner of CNO, I am sorry to hear of your unsatisfactory hunt.  It is our desire to give every client a successful hunt that they are not only proud of, but one that also creates a great memory.  I will try and address your concerns in the order that you commented.

It is our business practice, and also the practice of any hunts that I have been on and paid for, to collect all deposits and hunt fees prior to the hunt so that the focus can be on the hunt.

The pit that was hunted out of was one of our most successful pits and appeared to be the most appropriate site for the weekend of your scheduled hunt.  We scouted this pit/area and it was where the birds were roosted and using at this time of year (keep in mind, this was a late season hunt).  This would be a judgment call for any outfitter, in my opinion.  If I could control the weather, wind, etc., obviously your hunt would have been a great one!

As far as the Guide, this Guide has been hunting for over 15 years and guiding for over 4 years.  He is a younger guide, but I have never been told that he was unprofessional.  I believe he was "uncomfortable" when he had to instruct a member of the group that alchohol was not allowed on our hunts, but I just can't imagine that he was "unprofessional".  If you were not happy with his services, I'm sure your tip reflected that and he (as any guide would be) will be concious about that hunt.  It is also my understanding that your group requested hunts to end early each day, as you had other activies planned.

Bird cleaning is not included in the price of the hunt and we do offer the name and services of a local game processer to do that.  Your Guide should have offered their name, but apparantely felt because of the slow hunt that he could help you out with that.  Again, this is not something that is usually done - this is also explained on our website.

I apologize for not calling you back immediately.  A storm and other happenings have put me behind in responding.  I will, however, be contacting you in the next few days.  I wish you would have waited to speak with me prior to your review, however I do know that at times somebody not responding gets "personal".

I look forward to speaking with you when we connect and I hope that all of your future hunts, with whomever you hunt with, are successful.
