Central Parts Intl Tiffany ProsperKristen Hicks Central Parts Int'l promised a Grade A Insurance jeep engine, sent a worn out engine instead. Only got a partial refund. Jacksonville Florida
I made a big mistake buying a used Jeep engine on April 18 2016 from Central Part's Int'l out of Jacksonville, Florida. They advertised it as a “INSURANCE GRADE A” engine with 88,00 miles on it, but what my mechanic recieved was a worn out engine he felt was dragged out of a pond with 188,000 miles on it.
I demanded a refund since my mechanic refused to install it. Why? The engine had rusted out leaking freeze plugs, one had a fixed with a rubber plug, the radiator hose had a 1/16” of rusty flakes caked on it, and the water pump had failed. No doubt the engine had been seriously overheated as a result, and water jackets inside the engine likely clogged from the rust. This was not the GRADE A engine was promised.
Tiffany Prospers, the office manager responded that this was a perfectly working engine that had been tested for good oil pressure & compression, bad freeze plugs & a bad water pump were periferals and not covered by terms of contract, but agreed to give me a refund and pay the shipping charges to return it. I asked for a e-mail confirmation of the refund, she never sent it....wonder why.
I checked my credit card statement to find out that I had only recieved only $748.50 of the $998 I had paid for the engine. I called Tiffany and she told me it was a 25% restocking fee, and she did me a favor by not charging me for the shipping fees. Being charged $249.50 to restock their junk motor was a outrage, but that was their terms and conditions of the contract.
All this may be perfectly legal, but I was decieved by what I feel was their unethical misrepresentation of the engine they sold me. See the attached pictures and ask yourself if this a 'GRADE A INSURANCE ENGINE. All I can say is I made a big mistake trusting them........BUYER BEWARE.
