Central Payment Corporation is running a boiler room offering low payment to ist workers and even less to unsuspecting prospective account executives who are expected to run around solicting business to switch to their merchant account system which is no better than the others out on the market.

Prospective account executives are told by recruiters that their "resumes have been approved by me" when in fact anyone who is living and breathing and willing to work for a 100% commission is prime fodder for these creaps. The prospective account executive is expected to spend time and personnal resources pounding the street to sell their overpriced bank card and check machines to stores which will pay heafty penalties for dropping their current bank card services. Prospective account executives are pressured in a "conference call" with the Director of Sales and Marketing" Jon Allen to go out and sell, sell, sell, and pressured by the sales directors when they do not.

If you need a real job, this is not the place to go.

 There are two types of people in the world; employees and business owners. The ones who take the risk, pound the pavement, and invest their resources are usually the ones with the biggest return. The other  people are the ones who refuse to do those things and usually end up working for the ones that did. Then end result is a world of people who complain because they have to do what this country was built upon; entrepreneurship. Now i've been with Central Payment for quite a while, and yes I had to do those things like invest time and resources; however because I did I have a very large database of loyal customers as well as the income and residual to pay my family for years to come. When I took a look at this company years ago I knew that if I did not work I would not eat. Those REAL jobs do things like fire you, overwork and underpay, no time, no freedom, give you a 401k, and you usually have to work until your 75 or 80 to retire only to spend your life savings at a nursing home. If a person wants that, and we are all free to chose which path we want then by all means go get it. If you are a person that is looking for a change and are willing to set yourself free the please do not buy into all the naysayers. We still need those people to wash our car, take our trash out, fix our teeth, etc. Central Payment has been good to me and my family and i'm grateful for the opportunity to be with such a great company. Thank you Central Payments we now take 4 vacations a year!

Worked for them for about two months. No one who works for them as an agent is an "employee". They are an Independent Sales Organization "ISO" and per MC/Visa rules can hire "ISA" independent sales agents, agents are contracted. Most of their top management came from the cell phone hustle of the late 1980's. During my first sale my "sales manager" called up and demeaned me through the use of innuendo. This curbed my enthusiasm and I lost the sale. Needless to say, I no longer have anything to do with them, if they call I just don't answer. Save yourself some time and google them. They are always advertising for sales agents and have an extremely high turnover of "employees". That will tell you more about their management than anything else can, people always vote with their feet.

I've worked with Central Payment for a while now, and as someone who is the first contact for not only new employees, but agents in the field, I find the negative claims here almost laughable.



+To those who use the site CareerBuilder.com:

We get the bulk of our resumes from CB (as well as Hotjobs), and one of the features of CB is that you can send your resume out to companies that have certain keywords in their description. If you've posted your resume on CB and chosen that option, then that is probably why you got contacted by us.



+To those that complained about receiving multiple calls:

No, we are not hounding you. The recruiting department is made up over many employees, and while we do our best to weed out the duplicate resumes we receive sometimes they slip through the cracks. We aren't machines, just human beings that make very human mistakes. We also see a lot of cases where people have applied to more than one job posting on more than one site, and complain that someone has already called them when, lo-and-behold, they've applied more than once.



In addition, the company pays job sites like Hotjobs and Career Builder to send us resumes. We pay per resume, so naturally the recruiters will follow-up if you've applied. Generally you only get two calls unless you've scheduled for the conference call, in that case the recruiters are more persistent because you've already expressed interest in the position.



+The recruiters are not here to force you into the job:

Most of the recruiters make it clear up front what you'll be doing, that it's commission only, and that it's not for everyone. Some recruiters even try to talk them out of the job, so to speak, just so only the committed applicants are hired. Forcing someone into the position only reflects poorly on recruiters, since hiring people who don't want the position only costs us money and time.



+Central Payment does not harass their employees:

I've worked in some stressful work environments, and I have to say that this is probably the most laid back position I've held. The other employees, even the guys who are high up in the company, are very friendly and good-natured.



Now, if you're an outside sales rep and you're not answering your phone for several days, you can expect that your sales director is going to call you a few times. Just like with any job, there's something expected of you, and if you disappear into thin air you can expect that your employer will call you to see what's up. Don't get angry when you're called on the seventh day of ignoring your director to hear that you've been 'probation' and to call back when you're serious about working.



+We're not trying to hide anything from you:

The recruiters are trained to recite information to the applicants to the company, that being said, if you ask a question they'll answer. Central Payment isn't trying to hide information about the process or what you'll be doing. In fact, we do our best to make everything clear so that we can hire only those who feel they will succeed in this business. If a recruiter can't answer, then they'll go to their supervisor on the matter and make sure you get your question answered.



The same goes for the merchant. Everything is up front and in writing. It's up to the agent themselves to present this to the merchant, not the directors. They're not obligated to say yes once they ask for a proposal.







Like others have said before, this job isn't for everyone. If you feel you can't succeed in a sales position, or you're not comfortable with having to leave your home, or you're just not ready to take on an independent contractor position, then don't apply. Don't get upset at the company because you didn't succeed. The sales directors are here to help you achieve success, but we can't do that if you're not willing to put the effort forth. There are no investments but the time and effort you put in yourself.



We're not in a boiler room, we're actually in a very nice office building with lots of windows, but that's the least important of the accusations :)

Hey, I applied to a job opening to CPC and received an email and a vm. I just graduated from college and wanted to get some experience in sales. I like to say I'm a smart individual and cautious. I do my research about the company I'm considering before jumping in and also, I try to make a decision objectively. What can I say about CPC? Presently, perhaps the company really is a great place to work for - HOWEVER - I did look to see who the managers were on the BBB website. If you're curious, do it yourself. Secondly, BBB rating for CPC is an A. That's great, right? Yes it is! There is also a public release by the FTC (Federal Trade Commission). Where am I getting at, you're thinking? Find out if it really matters to you:

The names are the same - is it coincidence? I don't know..

With that said, we all know people make mistakes, and the smart ones learn from it. Those who erred before can get second chances and succeed. I'm not bad-mouthing anyone, but I'm just more hesitant to take the job if offered...and the reason involves working for ethical leaders. I will just continue to think about my choices and yes, CPC is still among them. The company is accredited by the BBB after all.

Zach did not say Central Payment Corporation has over 400 employees.  It would be wise for you to pay attention to detail before making statements such as yours.  Please review the statement from Zach.  He clearly states that Central Payment works with over 400 outside sales people.  Central payment currently maintains 105-115 employees.  We are not going to update our BBB report to reflect an exact number anytime someone leaves or when we hire a few extra employees.

As far as employee rebuttals.  Many of "Employee" rebuttals are not all necessarily from "Employees".  Many of the rebuttals are from many of the outside sales representatives productively working with Central Payment Corporation.  When filling in a rebuttal, the Ripoffreport.com software offers limited choices as to what relationship you are with the company.  "Employee" is the closest description for an outside sales representative working with us.  Also, writing a rebuttal on here is voluntary.  If someone feels the urge to do so they can.  That is up to the individual.

We have many adds in local newspapers and other local venues offering other career opportunities for individuals from customer service, technical support, recruiting, underwriting, accounting, to sales assistants.  However outside of the general area in which our corporate head quarters is located we only offer sales positions. 

As far as our company calling you for a career opportunity... well maybe some of those other companies should start picking up the phone and calling people instead of just sending emails.  Email is so non-personal.  Here at Central Payment we build strong relationships with our sales force and strive to support and encourage their growth.  Email is not a good way to begin building a true relationship.

I have only come across three things about this company. The first is the companys website, which offers very limited information about career opportunities with them. The only career information is about a sales position, there are no other supporting positions. I personally find that is a good indicator about the type of company it is.

The second thing I came across was the BBB page for the company. In all fairness it rated well and at the time I looked it had 73 complaints, for various things, of which 68 had been resolved and 5 that had been Administratively Closed. However I was more interested in the information about the company structure. The Principle of the company is listed as their Compliances Specialist, which seems strange, especially for anyone who is coming from a corporation background. Also the names listed for the President and Managing Partner would suggest that they are related. That by itself may not raise red flags as there are a lot of family owned businesses but coupled with other information from the company it did catch my attention. Also on a side note, one of the rebuttals from I believe Zach said that the company employed over 400 people, however according to the BBB website they only employee 112. So either they were mistaken about the number of employees they have or they need to update/correct their information.

The third thing I came across were the various pages where people felt that the company was a scam or spoke about issues with being an employee with this company. I understand that every company has complaints but rarely do you see companies that spend the time making multiple rebuttals about former employees complaints as much as this one seems to. Furthermore, when multiple employees (especially in a business where most employees do not see each other on a daily basis) take the time to make a rebuttal about a former employees complaints it seems even more suspicious. It almost seems like a case of the lady doth protest too much. Large companies with more than 100 employees that know they are a legitimate company rarely feel the need to defend themselves against negative complaints or comments from one or two former employees.

Finally, I also have my resume posted on a job board and I have also been contacted, both by phone and e-mail from someone from Central Payment Corporation. I did not send them my resume, and although I have my phone number listed on my resume, they are the only company who has ever contacted me by phone without me soliciting an employment opportunity; all others (even other MLM companies) have only contacted me by e-mail. To date they have contacted me by phone seven (7) times. If this is the number of times they contact someone who is not in their employ, I have to wonder how often they are contacting someone who is in their employ for coaching sessions.

If you have been contacted by this employer my advice is that you look at all the information you can find about the company, both the good and the bad and weigh it with a little common sense.

That is why I don't list my phone number on a resume with any job search board. As it is, I get MANY e-mails each month from lousy companies that I wouldn't consider working for.

Is Central like the other payment companies that want you sell a $400 terminal through a lease at $150 per month for for years? That's $7200 for a $400 terminal.

The author of this complaint obviously does not understand the business, commissioned sales, or a good work ethic. If he had a true complaint, then go to the Labor Board.

I am one of those "unsuspecting account executives". I can say from personal experience, the management and executives at CPC support the agents 150%. It is hard work doing outside sales, so if you can't stand the heat - get out of the kitchen and stop whining.

CPC is the MOST ethical and honest merchant services company I have come across. I see what many other companies do - there are a lot of liars and thieves out there, but CPC is not among them.

The complainants here obviously are clueless, having absolutely no idea what commisoin sales is or the ins and outs of sales contracts and doign business. Grow up, wipe the wet off from behind your ear, get some experience and then you will be entitled to a say. Very few people as a percentage have what it takes. They have the employee mentality. They shoudl stay safely within the nest of emplyeedom and have their hands held and someone to tell them every little thing to do. This is not for you.

To all of those listed as "Employees", "Owners" and "Ex employees" who are going to bat for this company . . . List some real and true contact information in which these disputes can be resolved.

All of you seem to make claims which state that claims made against this company are false, yet you offer no remedy to said claims, which for many (like myself) is suspicious and instills doubt.

Step up to the plate and offer solutions.

Currently, the company I work for has CPC on their "suspect" list. I Wont expound here, but if their actions continue on their present course they will exemplify fraud and those actions will be dealt with accordingly.

The funny part is . . . They should have a legal team, which if they were doing their job, could easily see that they are in hot water if their actions continue on their present path.

I am sure they will make the right decision.

I can only draw the notion that any individuals with bad things to say about this company, lack any and all motivation. Sales is sales, regardless of how you perceive it. Yes, the directors are tough- its for your own good. A complaintant described it as a "boiler room"? Do you know what one is? Working for this company has been nothing less than enjoyable. Just because you cant sell, doesnt mean you have rights to slam a company because of your un-success, you should be slamming yourself. Sure, I have only been with this company a short time- but, I cant help but to see a promising future with it, and will not be discouraged from your failures.

This is a wild exageration of Central Payment Corp. This is not a boiler room. Central Payment contracts with Individual Entreprenurial business people to offer a wide range of merchant services. I have been an Account Executive with CPC for 7 months and it has been a wonderful experience. This business is what you make of it. If you go out and call on merchants, create a network, and develope some buzz about what it is you offer, it really is a great business to develop. My Sales Director has never pressured me to do anything, it is more like he works for me. Working up detailed Cost Analysis, encouraging and coaching me when I had a difficult sale to make. This is a great company to be associated with, they have excellent services, outstanding training, and your Sales Director is always accessible for consultation.

Oh and one more thing the commission structer is outstanding as well.

I highly recommend them.

I only found this site because I had received two e-mails and a phone call saying that a recruiter from this company had received the resum I had sent them. The subject lines were "RE: CPC Job Offer" and one minute later "RE: CPC Conference Call". I was rather unhappy because I have worked very hard to make sure no junk mail gets to that particular address, because it is for business only, and comes up immediately on my phone. I would never have applied to a sales job (I'm a Freelance Artist/Designer), much less to a company named "Central Payment Corp.". Then, not ten minutes later I received a phone call from (415) 462-8335, all after 6 and right in the middle of dinner.

My point is this: I did not e-mail my resum to this company, and if I don't reply to your first e-mail, do not send me a second one, and certainly do not call me, especially well after most real businesses are closed.

It doesn't help your case very much if you're already harassing potential employees, and maybe some recruiters only reply to resums e-mailed to them, but obviously someone is picking them out of a pile.

Contrary to what is stated here about not calling people who have not contacted them, today I received both an unsolicited email, and then an unsolicited telephone call from this outfit. My phone requires anyone who calls to identify themselves before putting the call through, and they declined but caller ID still shows they called. I also received the email below. My resume and background have NOTHING to do with sales, or what they offer, and I NEVER sent it to them. It is posted on public job search sites but on those sites it is clear what I am looking for.

I am a formal recruiter of CPC, but only quit because of moving out of state. I worked closely with the Sales Directors and as a Recruiter myself, we DO NOT randomly pick a resume out of a pile. We look over the resumes carefully that are emailed to us and pick the right candidates. We do not pressure them nor do we make the decision for them, they make it themselves. Obviously, if you have a mind of your own, you would say no if you think you would not be a suitable candidate for the position.

Steve, this is a Real Job and people DO make a living being an account executive. Yes, this is a 1099 job, which means you are an independent contractor. As Zach said, you receive Cash Incentives including 50/50 split residual income.

Secondly, we do not harass any of our employees. We are Professional and treat every one of our account executives with respect.

I am an account executive, who has worked for the company for about one month.

I really don't understand how Ron can state it is only a boiler room operation. Central Payment is in good standing with the BBB, otherwise I would not have worked for them. I am new to sales, and they have tried hard to hold me by the hand to help me get on my feet selling their services and equipment. While it is true they (well, the sales manager) calls me everyday, it is to encourage me and to help me.

I have been in the credit card industry for 7 years. Due to a illness, I left the company.

While I was there...they had very fair rates (then my last processor), they were helpful, not "harrassing", and the payments were timely and accurate.

The only negative I found, is that I was east coast, they were west coast...untimely dinner hour calls. Apart from that...it was a great company to work for.

Not only do these scumbags charge more than other credit companies to use credit cards as the latest entry here shows, they charge per item. Their so-called Vegas trip is a joke. When they don't like any of their employees they call them up to harass them.

Low pay, higher credit card charges, what's not to understand. As far as work performance, if you call lying to possible "future outside workers" poor performance, these people have a lot to learn. Especially when, as the last entry shows, you don't know who really runs their so-called company.

The person who wrote this report is an employee who was terminated due to work performance. Yes, Central Payment Corp hires sales professionals from across the country to market our services to businesses. We offer the lowest possible rates in the industry to our merchants and pay our sales professionals upfront cash incentives along with a 50/50 split on residuals. For someone to say it is unethical to charge an application fee is a joke and they obviously do not know the bankcard industry.

Lastly, Central Payment Corp currently works with over 400 active outside sales people all of who make a living working with us on a commission basis. This is an Independent Contractor position, not an employee position. So, it is commission based. We offer a all expense paid trip to Las Vegas for all new agents. We ONLY call potential sales people if they emailed us their resume.

Central Payment Corporation sales directors encourage new account executives to charge business merchants an application fee for the services provided to new business that contract with Central Payment Corporation for their bankcard business services.

There is no reason for the account executive to have to charge for the application fee other than to put $200 into the account executive's pocket. There is no requirement that the business have to pay such a fee, but the sales directors at Central Payment Corporation encourage the new account executives to charge the unsuspecting businesses the application fee for Central Payment Corporations' services. Further business rip off.
