We were ripped off on a bogus appraisal/survey done by Century 21. The house was listed as a ranch, wooden frame, stick-built home. When we went to sell it last year we were told it was actually a double wide that had been converted to sit on a concrete pad. We paid so much for it and could not even sell it for half of the purchase price. We were in the military and traveled and the home was only occupied by us for 1 year before we were transferred. Even the agent renting the home for us had no idea this had happened. I fault Century 21 for our loss and force into foreclosure.

Placing blame on the wrong person

I saw this thread and chuckled- I am a loan officer so I know how the lending approval system works and the true culprit here is the apraiser more than anything. they are the ones who made all the peices fall together.
Questions- first off, how do you mistake a doublewide for a stick built single family residence?

Most people wouldn't be fooled. That seam running the entire length covered by a piece of trim of the house is a dead give away, especialy to an apraiser. 2nd, County records used on the appriasal report would indicate wether this house was 'wheel estate' or a SFR.

What you have here is a re-litter, appraiser, and more than likely lender who fraudulently misrepresented the property and took you. What you need to do is get together your HUD1 form that you signed at closing, a copy of the old apraisal clasifying the property as a stick built, and call the title office you closed at and let them know you are getting an attorney and then do just that- GET AN ATTORNEY RIGHT NOW. this is a huge conspiracy that you got shafted in. All involved are looking at multiple counts of fraud and conspiracy.

Good Luck.
