My husband purchased what he thought was a 2.5 ct total weight diamond ring with a 1.25 ct center stone and .65 side stones. I took my ring to two different appraisers and was advised that my ring was on 2.0 ct total not 2.5 as advertised. The paperwork they provided also stated that the ring was 2.5 tw. I was advised by both appraisers that the center stone was only 1.0 ct with .5 side stones, which is a total ct wt of 2.0 not the 2.5 that was advertised. The ring was beautiful but not what i thought I was getting. I would advise everyone to get their jewelry independently appraised to ensure that you are getting what you pay for.
