Complaint Review: Champion Windows Of Atlanta Earl Rahn

Champion Windows Of Atlanta, Earl Rahn, ripoff, breech of contract, theft Atlanta Georgia

We were interested in getting a patio room added to our deck, so we visited the Champion showroom where we were pressured by a salesman to sign a contract a leave a substantial deposit that day.

We added a condition to the contract that if our Home Owner's Association (HOA) denied our request for a patio room, then our contract will be null and void. Also, the salesman told us verbally that if we changed our mind for whatever reason, at any time, our deposit would be returned to us as long as the job hadn't been started.

Our HOA ended up denying the addition of a patio/sunroom, so we requested an immediate return of our $3,000.00 deposit. It has been almost 2 years now that we have been trying to get our refund back.

Earl Rahn, the president at Champion Windows of Atlanta, has done everything possible to avoid refunding our money. His last coorespondence to us was a suggestion from him that we get ourselves an attorney to help collect our refund.

We feel that we have been ripped off and bullied by the corporate power Earl Rahn and Champion Windows have. They have been making us jump through red tape for too long just to get back OUR money.

I have responded to this rebuttal just today.  (See post). Since Champion took over 2 years to respond to my request, I chose to do the same to theirs.

Immediately after I wrote my initial complaint of Champion Windows of Atlanta and Earl Rahn, I received a call from Champion's corporate office offering us a refund of our $3,000.00 under the condition that I would "retract" any negative comments I have put out in writing about Champion Windows.  I agreed and within 2 weeks, received a check for the full amount we deposited.

As promised, I am "retracting" my complaint.  I felt since they took over 2 years to pay us back, and I would take just as long to hold up my end of the bargin.

Be glad they did not work on your deck.
The plans I agreed on, as far as four even sized windows , was not what they showed up with. I have two small and two big windows. By the time I noticed what they were building and contacted them, they did not seem concerned. They told me they guy who has drawn the final design and ordered the windows did not work there anymore.
They said my deck supports were not good enough but they could not get them out. After they cut them off, they built the room with temp support in place. The deck has a slant to it now. I have had several leaks. I finally had to fix them myself. They would come out and dump more sealant in the seams. They stated 10 day to build one they started on it. It took several months. Everyday a different crew was out here with different ideas on how to build it.
The A/C they put in did not drain properly, because they installed it with out and outward slant. Their fix, drill holes in it. Now that it has snowed I have snow blowing in around the A/C case. The roof they showed me pictures of id nothing like what I ended up with, not blended in at all. The manager talks big and told me several times he would make it right, even if they had to take it down and start over. But just came up with reasons for why thing were done they way they were. I have two landings on the deck they tried five times till they were able to get those right. That was their own guys that would show up and start over. I finally gave up. I had friend they were going have a room put on after mine was done. They are going with four seasons room.

Update

#5UPDATE Employee

Tue, March 27, 2007

The consumer asked to cancel their contract citing personal reasons. Although this was a binding contract and we were in no way required to release the consumer from the contract, we agreed to do so. We issued a refund of the $3000 deposit on 5/9/06 with an agreement from the consumer that they would update or retract this complaint. It is almost a year later and they have failed to do so. We respectfully request this complaint be updated.

Thank you,
