I purchased a used 2004 Ford Mustang from the Chapman Group in June of 2006. I owned the car for about ten days before I had serious issues with it. The transmission, powertrain module and computer went out. The car was under Ford factory warranty so it was all replaced. Again, the same things went out about a month later, and I had already had to replace the tires on the car.

After waiting several days for the car to be fixed, I was informed by Ford that the car had been wrecked or abused and they were voiding the warranty. At this time they also informed me (with 20,000 miles on the car) that the tranny was no good, and I could have it all repaired for aroung 6k.

I called Chapman, and they said they would be glad to help. I went down to see them, and found out that all they wanted to do was sell me another car. They told me they did not know about the car being wrecked, therefore, did not have to disclose it or take the car back.

I lost about 15,000 on the deal, was sued by the bank after they repo'd the car.

Long story short, they did not care about my situation, and their attitude was "you signed the deal" so it's your problem now.

Joel,

You said you bought the car in June of 2006 and you are writing the report in June of 2008, the time line just does not add up. I have purchased several vehicles from the Chapman Organization and have had nothing but great experiances from sales to service. I know they stand behind what they sell and happy customers are what they are after. I have referred several friends to them and they have had nothing but positive experiences with them. My roomate works for Ford and said the manufacturer would never void a warranty unless you did some modifications to the car.

I hate to say it but your story and timelines just do not add up. If this happened 2 years ago why are you now complaining about it. If the bank sued you that means they repo'd your car and you should have made the payments on time. Chapman gave a copy of the car fax report to me when i bought a used car from them and I did not even ask for one. I have no idea why you are disgruntled but it sounds like you did not handle your business and this was pretty much all on you for not making your payments and the bank repo'd your car. Have some accountability and please tell us the real story.
