Char-Broil Corporation, Alan Shaw, CEO Char-Broil Ignores it's Customers! Columbus Georgia
I purchased a Char-Broil Gas grill from Lowe's Home Improvement in Woodbridge, VA in December 2006. It was a Christmas present from my mother.
As it was winter, I left the grill boxed up in my garage. The box looked fine, no apparent damage to the box itself. I found, upon opening the box in March, when I wanted to assemble it to grill out with some friends, that just about everything in the box was damaged and/or missing. I tried to get Lowe's to help, but they blew me off. See my complaint against them on this site.
I got some help from Char-broil, but that help only went so far, and did NOT resolve my problem, as I am STILL missing a key part and other damaged parts that need to be replaced have not been, as Char-Broil has requested digital pictures of the grill and the parts. I do not have a digital camera. I DO still have the original parts, though.
I sent a letter, registered mail, to Alan Shaw, CEO of Char-Broil, and received NOTHING in terms of a reply, or acknowledgement. It is now a year and one-month later, and I still have a grill which I can NOT use, and which Char-Broil seems content to do nothing about.
Suffice it to say, I will NEVER buy a Char-Broil product and will be at Lowe's on the next big sales weekend to pass out copies of my letter to Char-Broil and copies of my complaints against both Char-Broil and Lowe's. If I can convince ONE Potential Customer to buy another company's grill, I will consider my efforts a success. I think though, that I will be able to convince more than one...
Buy Char-Broil from Lowe's at your own risk, as you will truly be on your own.

Char-Broil Comes Through!

I am pleased to report that Char-Broil addressed my complaints in a satisfactory manner, I have all my replacement parts and am very happy! I still have a slight problem with the gas jets, but I think that may actually have something to do with the propane tank I have. I am going to switch tanks, and see. Everything seems to work fine with regard to the Char-Broil equipment.
Color me happy!!
