Complaint Review: Charcoal Grill Manitowoc

On the evening in question my wife and I were seated on the patio at around 6:00, the sun was still up. In the process of waiting 2 hours for our food it got dark, very dark since their was only one light working on the patio. The manager refused to move us inside even though the restaurant was nearly empty. We had to eat by the lights in our Iphones.

The food was average at best but the fun began when we recieved the bill. It was padded with an 18% tip. After the time and service received a 5% tip would have been overly generous. They obviously relized that thus the attempt to extort the 18%. We refused and the manager, James, offerered to call the police. Mind you we had no issue with the bill for the food or drinks only the tip. He never called the police and our phones were dead from needed the light.

After being held against our will for about an hour we forced our way out of the location leaving the full bill including the required ransom for the server. The manager pursued us all the way through the parking lot still attempting to hold us. After leaving the property we parked at a nearby gas station and called the police ourselves.

Charcoal Grill corporate refuses to get involved since this is a franchised location. The general manager and franchise owner as of this writing refuse to contact us via email, phone, mail or lawyer. This restaraunt is a complete RIPOFF and obviously believes they can EXTORT money from their customers with no regard for customer service, safety or law. STAY AWAY from CHARCOAL GRILL!
