Let me start at the beginning. I purchased a 2007 Toyota Camry LE brand new. I saw them roll it off the truck. I was so excited. I loved driving my car and it drove wonderful... for about the first 15,000 miles.

At 15,000 miles I was having Rims put on my vehicle at Tread Quarters, when the technician discovered all 4 of my tires were bald and needed to be replaced. I looked at them and verified this was true. I called Charles Barker and they informed me that tires were not part of my warranty. I understood that but to have to replace all 4 tires after 15,000 miles of mild use is ridiculous. Still, I sucked it up and paid for the tires anyway.

About 2 weeks later, maybe 300 miles I noticed that my A/C was no longer cold. So I dropped my car off at Charles Barker and waiting for the call. A gentleman called me an informed me that my A/C Condenser unit was bad and that it was not covered under warranty because a rock went through my front grill and hit the unit just right to cause a hole. Again, I sucked it up and paid for the unit.

Everything went fine with the car for the next year and a half. Now I have 35,000 miles on the car and I have been having a couple issues with the air pressure sensor and the acceleration of the vehicle. So, I decided that before the warranty runs out I wanted to take it in to have those two things looked at.

I dropped my car off and Steve, which was extremely nice and helpful called me the next day and let me know that they fixed the valve stems (for the air pressure light) under warranty, and they reset the computer to hopefully repair the acceleration issue I was having. He said they needed to let the car sit overnight and they would test it the next moring.

Now I get a call this morning, again from Steven and again very nice and respectful. Apparently the computer resetting didn't work and they have to order parts for my TRANSMISSION! Now I know this is covered under warranty, but come on. This car is basically BRAND NEW and I have had to have major work done since I bought. And to make matters worse they have yet to offer me a rental car for anything. I have had to borrow one or get a rental my self.

I have emailed general managers, and owners and even VPs, but no one wants to respond to the issue. I am not asking for a new car, although that would be feasable, but I would like the pain and suffering and the items I have had to replace to covered and reimbursed.

Sounds fishy to me

I presume (from your comments) that you (finally) inspected your bald tires BEFORE the Tread Quarters tire tech had ever touched a lugnut.......? I cannot fathom how you could wear a set of radials out in 15,000 miles unless your front & rear alignments are WAY off. Our 2007 Camry V6 with VSC came with Michelin Evergy V-rated tires, and after 12,000 miles they look almost new. And I do not drive like a granny.... well, maybe that "Little Old Lady from Pasadena" sung about by the Beach Boys....

The comment you made that the dealer's shop people "destroyed the damaged A/C condensor", and so they could not show it to you, is fishy fishy fishy fishy fishy fishy fishy fishy .....

If you paid for the repair, the old part is YOURS! You keep it or have them trash it as you choose. And old parts are not "destroyed", they are put in the recycling bin and a recycler (junk man) comes along on a regular schedule and empties that bin. So they should have been able to retrieve it for you. Now if Toyota had paid for the A/C repair, the old part goes back to Toyota. For some reason, the term "double dipping" pops into my mind.

The tranny problem I have no thoughts about. Not yet, anyway.

It seems to me that your issues are "Dealer Issues" rather than "Toyota Issues". And thanks to the U.S. Congress, Toyota can do NOTHING about the dealer.

YOUR LIFE COULD BE IN DANGER BECAUSE...

there are MANY Toyota customers whose AIRBAGS are NOT DEPLOYING when in accidents!!!!

Google this- ENGINE SLUDGE and go to the consumeraffairs website about Toyota engine complaints and read them! Then, CLICK on 'Airbags' and read all of them!! YOUR LIFE COULD BE IN DANGER!!!!

Also, your Toyota COULD have developed ENGINE SLUDGE too!! Read all of those complaints!! There are many Toyotas with ENGINE SLUDGE!! The National News Media knows, but will obviously NOT expose this to the public because Toyota's advertising dollars pay their bills, and their six & seven digit SALARIES which are MUCH more important than their viewers lives, wouldn't you agree?

Contact the Media in your city and make a copy of the letter or e-mail that you send them. Then, post that letter here so the WORLD can see what you sent them and if they DON'T respond, we can prove a CONSPIRACY by the MEDIA to 'COVER-UP' vital information which the PUBLIC needs to know regarding a potential threat to their safety, O.K.?

Google this- YOUTUBE TOYOTA SEQUOIA DEFECT and watch the video.

Google this- SUIT: DEFECT REPORTS ALTERED TOYOTA PLANT and read it. See, Toyota and the Media know!!

Google this- SINGH V TOYOTA and read it! He burned to death in his Toyota Corolla.

Google this- SEXUAL HARASSMENT TOYOTA and read it. See, the executives at Toyota in NY are just like Eliot Spitzer, right?

Google this- BALTIMORE SETTLEMENT CALIFORNIA TOYOTA and read it. Toyota targets innocent people due to their SKIN COLOR!! Watch out, Mr. Obama!!!! They might TARGET you & your family too!!!!

There's SO much more!!!! The time has come to SPREAD the WORD on the WORLD WIDE WEB!!!

I believe that there is a MASSIVE conspiracy by Toyota, the Legal System in the USA, and the MEDIA, to COVER-UP the problems that consumers are having with their Toyota vehicles because of Toyota's advertising MONEY that all of them need!!! Guess what? It's being EXPOSED all over the WEB! BusinessWeek.com is allowing consumers to post comments under their articles each day! Toyota & the MEDIA & the Legal System in the USA are being EXPOSED, and they probably don't even know it!!!

P.S. Watch Toyota's stock value continue to DECLINE in 2008!! Google this- SLUDGE POEM and read it. Guess what? Toyota's CEO quit his position exactly two weeks after that poem was posted on 8-23-2007. Write a poem- they'll all know him!!!

ONE FINAL THING- We can all spread the WORD on the WEB & expose Toyota, the Legal System & the MEDIA and KARMA will take over!!! God bless all the honest people left in the USA & around the world!!!!

I agree, people are being far too harsh. Like it's your fault, and you're responsible. You're auto insurance may call the rock a "road hazzard" depending on their interpretation. Therefore, good luck on that one. If it's a road hazzard, it won't be covered even if you have full comprehensive and collision insurance. As far as the other items, tires, except for "spare donuts" should last more than 15K miles. I've bought low-end tires before and haven't even seen them for only 15K. It's true, they would be a tire warranty rather than a dealer warranty item. However, all of this only reinforces what the other commentor stated, do your research, check around, ask lots of people, peruse the internet and never buy anything before you have thoroughly investigated it. All the Toyota dealers think they have the hottest cars since sliced bread. They've gotten so high on themselves that they don't even care about the constomer/umer. If they ever listened to their own spiel when they say it, it's really laughable. I've heard them all. I hate buying a car, amongst other things, as I hate all the haggling and just general b.s. that you get. Most of it is downright lies/untrue, but they'll swear by it. A car is an expensive investment, which loses money the minute you drive off the lot. It's your money, spend it wisely. You've learned on of life's lessons the hard way. Don't make the same mistake again, and definitely express your opinions as you have here so others don't go to this dealership. That's the best you can do for now.

TO all of the comments...

Ok I appreciate everyone's comments but lets look at a couple of things....

(1) I take excellent care of my car, I rotate my tires at every oil change (5,000 miles per Toyota), I check the air pressure in my tires and I drive highway all the time.

(2) Why didn't I notice that the tires were bald, because after 15,000 miles of use I never THOUGHT to check for that.

(3) The A/C Condenser unit, should have been replaced under warranty. I understand the fact that a rock "could have" hit it but when I asked for the part to verify the hole they said they had already destroyed it.

(4) Yes, my sensor are not important and I don't rely on them to tell me the pressure but I don't want the light lighting up my dashboard because it is faulty.

(5) The transmission, I mean come on, can anyone here actually justify that? 35,000 miles and the transmission is having to be rebuilt?

Like I said I appreciate the comments but before you go throwing stones you need to put yourself in my shoes and see how you would feel about this car.

And last, trust and believe I will NEVER go back to this dealer again. Unfortunately until I get rid of the car or the warranty runs out, I do not have a choice.

Thanks.

I agree 100% you bought a new car. There shouldn't be nearly this many problems with it rather you fault or theirs. Here is a few tips. The rock flying up and going thru the grill sucks however your in a new car so I'm assuming you have full coverage insurance. And in this case if you can get a copy of the report from the dealer your insurance will cover that. My father owns an automotive shop and people have had rocks responsible for lots of damage to cars in which full coverage insurance covers. As for the dealerships lack of service. Call them tell them your wanting the number to corporate. Once you talk to corporate they should be willing to assist you more and probably would have bought you new tires. However you have to ask cause the dealership won't volunteer there number it makes them look bad if you call and they take that serious. Either way sorry for your luck. And next time I would definately go to a different dealership ask around to get tips on which ones are better then others. Ask friends family exc for that information.

Warranty

#8Consumer Suggestion

Tires when not covered in the new car warranty (they are at GM) have their own warranty. The cost for new tires is normally pro-rated depending on how many miles you have driven.

All repairs including the transmission are covered by the new car warranty. Toyota sadly has slipped in reliability and your story enforces that. This is a 2007 automobile with 35,000 miles. It is not new and doesn't qualify as a lemon. Be lucky you have a warranty. If you don't like the dealer go to another one.

Lemon???

#8Consumer Comment

Wed, June 18, 2008

Sorry but I think you are over reacting just a bit. A car that is a "lemon" is usually defined as something that is in the shop for excessive amounts of time for the same issue over and over. The 4 separate issues(and only 2 that really have to do with Toyota) you described in 35K miles would not come close to being called a lemon.

Tires replaced at 15K, is not normal, but may not be out of the ordinary depending on your driving style. But, it does not sound like you were doing proper maintenance(such as tire rotations, or even checking the air in your tires). It should not take a person at a store to tell you your tires are "bald". If they were truly that bad you would have noticed it before.

A rock punching a hole in your A/C Condenser, while unlucky can hardly be the fault of Toyota.

Valve Stems - Replaced Under Warranty, but something that would hardly be considered a major issue. (Nice feature, but you should not be relying on sensors to tell you your tires are low).

35K you had to have some Transmission work done. This could be a major issue depending on exactly what "parts" they had to replace. But again is not close to what would be considred a lemon.

As for the rental car. What does your warranty say? Does it say you are entitled to a rental car if it needs to be in the shop for more than a day?
