D to the X or whatever you call yourself as well as Anonymous...

About 10 years ago I had horrible credit. I mean horrendous, due to my divorce and legal fees and wranglings of my ex wife. I was kicked out of my one apartment as I could no longer afford the rent there, and had to quickly try to find a place to live. I spent a week looking at about 100 places until I found something that wasn't the "ghetto" but not exactly high society either, with a landlord who listened to me about why my credit was bad and was willing to work with me, etc. It took a while to find somethign I could afford with an understanding man, but they are definitely out there.

I fail to believe that you can't find something else that is in a little better shape with a landlord who works with you and keeps the place in working condition within a FEW YEARS. I mean come on. It's called pick yourself up and make your life better. Only YOU can do that

I'm just responding to the advice "Mike" gave the original author of this complaint.......I mean I know that it seems logical to move when you are being treated poorly by a landlord; but in this real world today, it REALLY IS next to impossible to get an apartment or house if you have a credit score that's even remotely under the "good" level, or if you've had any bad luck in the past on any debts.

I don't think it's right, I mean people have to have a home, a roof over their head if they are expected to be a productive citizen. But I know for a fact that you can't live anywhere but the ghetto if you have the slightest mark on your credit. And it sounds like "anonymous" is already in the ghetto, so why move, if he can't get a better place than where he's at now?

That crum of a landlord needs to be sued and reported to the Fair Housing Administration and the Louisiana State government that deals with bad landlords..........good luck to you with the crummy landlord. I know what it's like. There are so many rotten landlords out there in this world it's not funny. they sorta act like a rogue cop with a badge. They push their authority around and they are on a power trip, just because they have a piece of real estate to rent. A-holes is what we call 'em back home. yea. If they would only realize the circle of life, how what goes around comes back around - right back to yo sorry butt.....it's pure fact. Some people are too stupid to realize it will come back on 'em someday.

Small town in Texas - another state with lots of rotten landlords. Texas is one of those states where the government does NOT look out for it's people!

I fail to believe that over the course of a couple years that you were not able to find a place to live regardless of your credit situation. If you are unwilling to try to leave and allow this landlord to continue to let his building fall down around you (as it sounds as though you live in a place that should be condemned) who's fault is it?

Why haven't I moved? Unfortunatley, it's not that easy. I've had some credit problems and it's nearly impossible to find an apartment or house in a decent area that's not going to hold my credit problems against me.

You've has issues for years? Why haven't you moved?
