Complaint Review: Charter Lending Group

This message is to help keep you from being scammed. I was scammed by the Charter Lending Group. They called me and offered me a student loan for $5,000 dollars at 6%. The only catch was I had to send $820.00 up front through money gram to secure my loan. I was told that my $5,000 dollars would be in my bank account the next business day. I got a call from Larry Houston (Manager of scam lender) to let me know that I had to send an additional $820.00 dollars for my loan because my credit was re-checked. Of course I was very upset and demanded my $820.00 dollars be credited back to me. The monster had the nerve to tell me that I couldn't get my refund until the next billing cycle of January 2, 2009!

I used my house payment to make this transaction in good faith. I bet I will not get my refund. I contacted the Better Business Bureau of Maryland and filled a complaint. So please don't get scammed like I did. I know it sounded too good to be true but these are hard economic times and I took a leap of good faith that cost me $820.00. Don't let this happen to you.
