I am at my wits in. I originally was having problems with the bankcard and ATM machines not working, after using it for a couple of times all of the sudden the password did not work. I was told I could go to the office and it could be reset. Well, this did not happen. In turn, I had to order another one. It never came. I had been very unsatisfied with the service I was receiving. I went to cancel my account around Sept 21st at the Gratiot and Van d**e branch here in Detroit. Because a check went through my account I found the account was still opened. I tried to call customer service when the fee was $33.00 they told me to talk to the manager of that branch. I tried talking to her for over an hour with no success. Her name is Sherie Lindsey. She told me because there is no record I closed my account; I am responsible for $131.00 dollars in fees. So, in essence she is ignoring the fact I came in the office to close my account, and I specified that to the teller, yet I found out she did not close my account. Now I am stuck with $164.00 of overdraft charges. I just spoke to the manager again this morning and she would only reverse half the charges, which will leave me with $82.00 in overdraft charges. This comes as a shock since first you claim "No Fees", second, you claim "Convenient Hours", and finally, when I was able to use the cardthe machines weren't working. Even customer service was going to reverse the charges, but since I went in the office, they could not. The manager claims I wrote the check after I closed my account. I tried to explain to her I previously wrote the checks they just happened to show up after I closed the account. I cannot afford to pay the charges, they are not from a check you covered for me, and they are simply bank charges. Also, while I was in the office and from other customers, Charter One has closed peoples account without their knowledge...how does this happen? I am willing to pay $33.00 for a check they did not pay or go through, but that's it. Can anyone help me without me needing to take off work to once and for all get this straighten out.

Thanks.
