Chase bank has really ripped me off for the second time in two months. What they did is totally illegal. For the second straight month, they took my payment for my auto loan out of my checking account without any authorization.

When I called both times, they told me they had on computer when I had called in to authorize the transactions, but when questioned, they could not provide me a copy of the recorded transaction, or a confirmation number for the transaction.

The second time I called, which was May 3, 2005, They said I called in on a certain date and time, which when I checked my calender, I was totally indisposed during that period of time.

Also, when both me and my wife spoke to them about this, they got extremely argumentative, and implied both me and my wife were stupid and were lieing.

This has costed me dearly, because for the second straight month, it has overdrawn my account, and caused other checks to be returned insufficient funds.

#2Consumer Suggestion

Wed, May 04, 2005

Assuming what you say is correct, here are a few suggestions which hopefully will help you.

1) You can always go to your bank and have them reverse the transaction. Even if they give you the run around (which I fully expect them to do) just look at them and say

"Regulation E protects me from unauthorized electronic transactions on my account. I am telling you right now that I did not authorize this transaction and I want it reversed. (also ask for them to give you provisional credit for the transaction. Your bank can put the money back into your account right then and there). Tell them if they refuse to help you, then you will contact an attorney for help. (make sure you fully intend to contact an attorney if you say this)."

2) You can also contact Chases / Bank One's head office. Dispute this with them. Here is their contact info>>

Office of the Chairman
PO Box 71
AZ1-2526
Phoenix AZ 85001
PH: 800-654-7998
FX: 480-457-2281

3) Dispute this with the Better Busness Burea.
4) Report this to the Comptroler of the Curency. They govern banks and if the bank did you wrong, then they should make the bank fix it.

Regardless, if they debited your account without your permission, then you have all the right in the world to make them fix it......... I hope this information helps you resolve this situation.
