I am not a Chase customer.  Nor would I ever be a Chase customer.  I was, a long time ago but then I realized that Chase doesn’t care about customers – evident from the top on down with the CEO Jamie Dimon.

A week ago, last Monday, July 17, 2017, I attempted to withdraw $500 cash from the CHASE BANK ATM at Lakeside Village.  My bank is around 9 miles away and frankly the $6 ATM fee is worth not schlepping out to my wonderful bank, TD Bank.  But alas, the ATM sent a debit to my bank however the ATM failed to spit out the cash.  The ticket clearly shows that there was no cash distributed because the ATM had an ERROR.  Chase doesn’t have an argument with that. So at 8am I called my fabulous TD Bank, told them what happened and they told me that since I am a customer they would be happy to look at the ATM machine right away and get me my $500 out by looking at the film and counting the machine within 4 hours. “No” I explained, I stupidly went to the Chase ATM.  They said they will put in an immediate request for them to do an investigation which they did even before Chase opened at 9am.   Then I went to Chase at 9am.  They pretty much half-listened, hoping to swat me away like a fly, to my plight of how I was giving $500 early to one of my contractors who was in desperate need to make a car payment.  Oh no, said the sarcastic branch manager, if I had banked at their cranky bank they would be better able to help me.  Fast forward to MY FABULOUS BANK, TD Bank, who was jumping to help me: replying with emails, calls to me and so forth.  Chase Bank apathetic manager?   “Gee I can’t do a thing. You have to go to your bank and put in an investigation”. AND she also admitted that Chase Bank’s outside ATM had multiple reported problems, stating to me – “It happens all the time with that outside ATM and btw, open an account at Chase and you will never have that problem with us.”  She added, TD should advance me a courtesy loan for $500  (I don’t need to) but can you imagine living paycheck to paycheck like my poor contractor, worried about the car being repossessed? On Friday. July 21st, TD’s investigator called over to Chase bank to see the status.  Chase hadn’t even STARTED because THEY-DON’T GIVE A FLYING – well you know.   Hey Chase, Hey Let-Them-Eat-Cake Lakeside Village Branch Manager, Hey Jamie Diamond, CEO Chase Bank” If your ATM sucks – get it fixed.  If your contractor can’t keep their machine fixed or runs out of money or CONSTANTLY jams, find a new ATM contractor. ADMIT TO ME THAT YOUR CHASE MACHINE IS ALWAYS BROKEN? Oh. you bet I am going to tell every website that I can.  You know we have social media, we have power to stop this nonsense.   Hey people in Lake Buena Vista/Windermere community, if you want your cash eaten for 10 BANK days (legally they do not have to refund until then) – go to Chase ATM.  If you want to be treated like dirt – bank with Chase.    Let me teach you a lesson about WHY they couldn’t care less.  I know that this bank, bailed out by my hard-earned tax payer money has been in trouble, big trouble, paying ENORMOUS settlements, --------$16 billion from 2011 to 2013, another 8.5 billion in January 2016, $100 million in a recent settlement, foreclosing on our active military, and much, much more. How do they make all this money to pay off all these settlements?  Well, by taking 10 days to hold onto the money they did not dispense.  That’s a lot of interest folks, money that you should be making or giving or throwing away like they throw your money away.  They must pay for these settlements somehow, don’t they?

I implore you, business owners and regular folk alike, take caution using the CHASE BANK LAKESIDE VILLAGE ATM – take care using any ATM from Chase – call TD BANK and implore them to open a branch by us here in Windermere/Lake Buena Vista FL area.  The bank is open 7 days a week, with extended hours - “Convenient Hours” – and if you think my plight is any different than your local Chase bank in ANY TOWN USA, think twice. Jamie Dimon, CEO Chase Bank, you have the right to make money for your investors however, you do not have the right to abuse non-customers and customers alike.  You have large losses and settlements that need to be paid somehow.  However, perhaps if you believed that a bank should care about it’s community, you wouldn’t have 1-star rating which is the lowest possible that some one can give you. I have people who work for me or vendors I have to pay.  Many of us business owners have worked very, very hard through the last recession.  I don’t need your payout problems and Chase’s sinister ways to erroneously hold onto my money.  I am sick and tired of banks that treat all of us as peasants.  Mr. J.P. Morgan was known as a great industrialist but not a very nice person, in fact he was known as a son-of-a-b***h.  I see nothing has changed for Chase TD Bank: You keep going because you are spot on for customer service.

Perhaps You Should Rethink This??

Here is the only correct statement you made:  I stupidly went to the Chase ATM.

That was as accurate a statement as one can make.  You are not a customer of Chase, nor have you been injured, harmed, or otherwise out any money by your own admission.  As Robert correctly points out, this matter is strictly and only between Chase and TD Bank, and a dispute like this will take probably 30 days to resolve between branches.  Going over to Chase to rant like a petulant child, was a stupid and unnecessary act on your part.  Personally, I suspect the branch manager showed remarkable restraint in all dealings with you.  After all, the branch manager's  job is to deal with customers, of which you are not one.  I think however the really amazing part of your piece was this very candid statement:

"The $6 ATM fee is worth not schlepping out to my wonderful bank..."

Really??  You talk about how wonderful your bank is, yet you just placed an economic value on your wonderful bank of less than $6.  That's a pretty damning statement.  You would rather go to a Chase ATM - a company you value even less - to use an ATM there because it was economically convenient at $6??  Seriously??  I'm sure if anyone from TD Bank was actually reading your statement, only to realize you just placed an economic value on them and their services at $6, they'd figure out a way to eliminate you as a customer!!  I know I would seriously consider it if I were the branch manager.  After all, when you called and told them what happened, they provided you a credit for $500 immediately!!  That's great service!!  After all the ranting and raving at Chase, you then come to ROR to post your experience, had time to compose your piece, edit it, and then tell everyone reading this that you value your bank so much...that it wasn't worth schlepping out to the branch to use their services because the ATM fee at Chase was only $6?

This alone disqualifies your complaint from any serious consideration.

Interesting how you seemed to try and address most of the points by adding things you missed the first time around.

I did have something happen at TD before and the tapes were watched within a few hours and atm counted out.
- Again you are a customer of this bank. Just like Chase said that "it wouldn't happen if you were their customer" you can't say that TD bank would have done the same thing if you were not an existing customer. Or do we now get the revelation that you weren't a customer at the time and this amazing act of customer service is what caused you to drop your current bank and move all of your assets to them?

I did not need a "provisional credit" thankfully but it was offered immediately.
- Really? So you were just such a nice guy that you said "Nah...I don't need a credit keep your money".  If they gave you the credit it is then between Chase and them and you wouldn't have to worry about what Chase is doing nor complain about your money being held. But I guess if you don't take the credit they continue to "hold" your money and you have something you can complain about.

Chase bank has crappy customer service. I described QUITE accurately their attitude.
- I'm sure you did as seen through your eyes.  As it is typical people will ALWAYS make the negative seem as negative as they can where the company they complain about is just about 1 step above the devil.  Things such as your very colorful "fluff" about them wanting to "swat you away like a fly" or the "sarcastic bank manager" where if you had banked at their "cranky" bank....Great imagery but not much substance.

You miss too our point - the manager told me that they have had plenty of problems with that ATM. WE have also used for withdraws and many times it is down - temporarily out.
- No I got the point. Even though you have issues with them in the past you continued to use their ATM's, again perhaps as some excuse to be able to complain about something? But one has to again wonder if you have had previous issues with this ATM why did you keep even try using it? By a quick search on that address you listed I found 3 other banks, 2 Credit Unions, and 2 Stand Alone ATM's all within a couple of blocks.

The one thing that is interesting is that you didn't dispute any claims on the fines, penalties or other reports on your bank. Or perhaps that is in your next update of things you forgot to mention.

In the end if you found a great bank. Congratulations and good for you. But even IF Chase was as bad as you say based on your additional information it seems that most if not all of the "problems" you have had were self-inflicted and things you could have avoided or made non-issues almost immediately.  Oh and NO sorry but I do not now or have I ever worked for this or any bank.

Fight your own battles as you will lose this one just like Chase continuously loses the Customer Service Award.

Of course your bank is "saying" all of these grand things, but it doesn't mean they would do it. After all even by your own words Chase said they would be helping you if you were a Customer. Until you have this exact situation happen at a TD Bank ATM you can not take what they tell you as fact.

If TD Bank REALLY wanted to help they could give you a provisional credit. Yes, their management DOES have that power regardless of what they tell you.  Because you have a receipt that says the money wasn't dispensed, you have the Chase management telling you it happens all the time, and you have your bank who you are basically telling us would bend over backwards for you.

But did they do that? Did you even ask? If not perhaps you should do that as a first step to see how willing they actually are to help. If they do then perhaps you may be onto something. If not...well....

As for the lawsuits, there isn't a single major bank that hasn't had fines or lawsuits. Chase is the biggest bank in the US and has some signficant fines and settlements. But for it's size your bank is no slouch when it comes to the settlement and fines department. So if you think your bank is "Squeeky" clean you may want to do a bit more research on YOUR bank as well. Or better yet take a look on this site at the RipOff reports that have been written on them.

Look I am not trying to knock down either bank and yes being out $500 for any amount of time is not a good thing. Just that don't go in so blindly that you would be totally "saved" by your bank if you had this issue at their ATM.
