The same thing is happening to me as with other customers! They said I "didn't have enough available credit". I guess they gave me a credit line, but I wasn't supposed to actually use it. Below is the letter I wrote them.

Dear Chase Credit Card Company,

This letter is to inform you that I am closing my credit card account with Chase number xxxx. I am closing this account at my request because I am unhappy with the credit card company's usurious practice whereby my interest rate was raised from 7.99% to 31.24%. Apparently, this was caused by the fact that I used the card to make purchases and was "too close to my credit limit", although I have never been late with payments (almost always early) or over my credit limit.

I am very unsatisfied, and will persuade my husband, whose interest rate you lowered after he complained (while mine you did not) to transfer his balances to another card.

While I am temporarily able to only make minimum payments or a little more, due to my support of my two daughters who are in college at the same time, when they graduate, my accounts will be paid off, and please do not expect me to obtain another account with Chase.

I wish to pay off my remaining balance at the rate of 7.99%, and I fully expect your company to honor this rate once my account is closed. I also noticed that your company is being slammed on a website called Rip-Off Report (RipOffReport.com ) and that many good customers are being treated the same way that I have been. Shame on you.

Sincerely,

Lisa
