I paid my bill on line at the Chase site several weeks before it was due. I paid the full amount due on the statement and selected the statement due date for the payment to post.

I received a phone call this morning from a man with a very heavy accent from Chase. It was difficult to understand him. He told me that my internet payment would not post until 3 days after the date I had entered, and I would incur a $39 late fee. If I paid an additional $38 to him on the phone, I could prevent the late fee. In addition, he could not stop the internet payment I had already submitted.

I hung up and called the toll free number on my Chase bill. I got another gentleman with a heavier accent than the first. He confirmed that I would be charged the past due charges if I didn't pay an additional $38 over the phone today.

I became angry and told him in very strong terms that I was going to contact the North Carolina Attorney General about their scam. He put me on hold. When he cam back he told me that everything had been "fixed", and that I would not be charged a late fee.

I have called amazon.com who passed the buck saying that it was a separate company and they couldn't do anything about it.

I have just cut up my amazon.com Chase card. Please beware of this scam from a supposedly reputable company, JPMorgan Chase.
