My Chase credit card account was charged 19.95 a month by Intelius, the notorious company charging for a service people don't order.  When I called Chase to report fraudulent use of my credit card, they said, "The charges are not fraudulent.  Someone ordered something from Intelius (we did, for 8.95) and since you gave them your credit card number for any transaction, any other charges they charge you for are not fraud."

I said, "So if Intelius had decided to charge my $1M a month, you wouldn't do anything?"  The answer was, "I'm not going to discuss hypotheticals.  You need to check your account every month and we can only stop future charges.  If the merchant says you bought it, you must have."

I then reperated, "So as long as I have ever bought anything from them, they could charge me $1M a month and you wouldn't call that fraud."  She repeated, "I see where you're going with this, but I'm not going to discuss hypotheticals.  As long as you have done any business with a company and given them your credit card number, every charge from them is legitimate."

She was unmoved by my reference to ongoing investigations of Intelius and their partners.  In summary, according to Chase Businesscards, give your card number to a merchant and they can charge you anything they want for things you didn't order.

They will stop future charges, but you won't get your money back.  It is your responsibility to check your statement and find things you did not authorize, but if you do, forget getting your money back, Chase will not help you.  Seems to me Chase is a silent partner with Intelius, since they are both making money off fraudulent use of my credit card.  And these are the banks we gave billions to!
