Former WaMu customers BEWARE OF CHASE!! I recently opened a new Chase bank account and had all of account payee information on it. That account became immediately compromised (it was only open 5 weeks). As part of the process to fix the compromised Chase account, Chase determined it was necessary to determine my credit worthiness. As Chase has purchased WaMu, Chase has now determined that I am "not worthy" to have these formally perfect good active lines of credit and closed them without notifying me; effectively removing $15000 of available credit access from my portfolio (which was available at a rate some 25% lower that Chase's rates) and causing automatic charges to these accounts to bounce (creating further fees for Chase)!! Of course, now that all of these fees are being imposed by Chase, my formally good credit is taking a hit!! These crooks will stop at nothing! If you have accounts at Chase, you may want to consider other options while you still have them...mine have been taken away!

I was informed by the banker I sat with at Chase that this often happens on new accounts. You have to wonder how much of an inside and deliberate tactic this is by Chase.
