In 2007, I closed my account with Chase "Amazon" credit card, paid it in full, and even received a check reimbursement for "overpayment". As far as I knew, the matter was taken care of.

Recently, I have had some emails announcing that "my Chase statement is ready". At first, I did not bother, because I do not have a Chase account, and the last 4 digits shown did not match anything else I had, plus there are many phishing scams that start the same way.
This week I got some mail referring to another Chase account, also that I had no knowlegde of. This turned out to be from a BP gas card that I closed years ago (but they denied it when I called.) The person I spoke with also refused to say if any other accounts were listed (was quite rude about this),

so the emails were still a mystery. I finally got through to someone who could identify the last 4 digits of the email, (could not provide the entire account number) and stated that after my "Amazon" account was closed, another "billing cycle bill had been sent with finance charges of $77.00".

That money has been accruing and defaulting since then without my knowledge...don't they think that if I paid off the card for a few thousand, that I would have taken care of $77.00 hadI known about it?

This cannot be right, if something is paid off, and even refunded for overpayment, how can they keep taking on finance charges, and not even inform or warn that this can happen?
