I wanted to alert consumers to avoid Chase credit cards. People are resonsponsible for their own debts and own credit card usage, but there are companies that give a fair exchange for their services and others intentionally set up to trap unwary consumers into destructive situations. Chase clearly lies in this latter category. Chase recently raised my interest rate to over 30%. They assumed they had someone who had no choice and would have to this incredible rate. They were wrong as I simply paid off the card (all cards actually) and cancelled them. It was not that long ago that only a loan shark would have charged these kind of rates and rates this high would have been illegal. I once hard a loan when I needed it badly and could get it nowhere else from one of those super-high interest agencies. It was 24%.

Avoid chase as a loan agency. I have found Capital One to be much better, if you need a good card. MBNA is also a bad one, but Chase has proven to be the worst.

It may be legal, but it does not make it ethical. In cancelling my card I explained the above and that I felt they were engaging in unethical business conduct deliberately designed to take advantage of those who had gotten themselves into a situation with little choices. I will not do business with them again and certainly don't need to.
