I had made a purchase at a Circuit City store and took advantage of an offer for no interest for one year through a credit card offered by Chase/JP Morgan/Bank One. The card is called the Circuit City Rewards card.

While I was deployed with the Marine Corps in Iraq, my wife sent in a payment of $1087.14 which would have paid off the account in full. The check was cashed on April 4, 2005.

The follwing month's credit card statement did not reflect the payment. My wife made several attempts to have the company correct the payment dispute via phone, to include going into our bank, through which the check was written(Navy Federal Credit Union),and having the bank branch manager call Chase Cardmember Services while my wife was there and was still unable to correct the payment discrepancy.

My wife then requested a copy of the cashed check which she faxed to Chase. The copy of the check was clearly marked with my accout number and had a transaction stamp on it that read Bank One.....i.e. Chase. My wife ended up sending a second copy of the check to Chase because they "had no record of it".

It was at this point that Chase decided to stop dealing with my wife becasue she was not listed as a primary card holder(the card was in my name). My wife then faxed Chase a copy of our Power of Attorney allowing her to make decisions concerning the card. There after when my wife called, she was told at least four times that the Power of Attorney was being processed and that until that was completed she still did not have access to the account. This went on for two months and was never resolved.

At this point in August, I had returned from Iraq and was able to deal with Chase myself. It gets worse.

Whenever I call I cannot talk to anyone in the Dispute Department because "they do not have a phone number". So the only thing that any of the customer service representative's can tell me is what was entered in the notes of their screen...which happened to be that the dispute was settled in the Chase's favor. If I ask about the check copy with Bank One's stamp on it... they just repeat that "the dispute was settled in the Chase's favor". Could you not read the transaction numbers? Same anwser... "The dispute was settled in the Chase's favor".

At this point, I requested a source of receipt through my Bank. The source of receipt was completed on October 24, 2005 and the item was determined to have been paid to JP Chase Morgan. Despite this having been done I have still yet to see the payment dispute corrected.

I am even now making minimum payments until the dispute is settled.

My next course of action is to fax a copy of this "ripoffreport", my letter from JP Morgan Chase confirming that they received payment of the item, the copy of my cashed check and a letter to Chase Cardmember Services as well as the CEOs of both JP Morgan Chase and Circuit City.

Chase has gone out of their way to make life extremely difficult for me and my family and this has been absolutely the worst customer service I have ever dealt with in my life. The people are rude and the system is designed so as to only allow you to deal with only the customer representative you are talking to at the time. Their is no continuity, no feedback, and a complete lack of professionalism.

In short, I will never do business with JP Chase Morgan or Circuit City again. I am also advising everyone I know to do the same.

I sent a final dispute letter dated December 9th, 2005 to Chase Credit Card Services. This dispute letter contained a copy of the complaint letter that I had sent to the CEO of JP Morgan Chase and to the CEO of Circuit City, as well as a copy of my cashed check and Source of Receipt as well as my rip off report. On Dec 27th, I received a call from "Angela" from the office of the CEO of JP Morgan Chase. It seems my letter finally got some attention. On Jan 9th, I had a check in my hand for all payments made after my payment dispute. JP Morgan Chase also removed/credited every finance change since the paymnet dispute back to my account. I even received a follow up phone call to let me know. I am happy that corrective action was finally taken by JP Morgan Chase. I still will never do business with them ever again. It took almost ten months to resolve this matter and I should not have had to write the CEO of the company to have action taken. The ongoing customer service problems that I had during the dispute are itself enough to stay clear of JP Morgan Chase.
