CALIFORNIA -- I closed my account with chase bank because there was cash advanced electronically getting money out of my checking acct, without my consent, then I opened another account, yes I had signed documents for overdrafts to be paid by chase, they didn't pay those checks but they charged me $ 34 each time, this business charged me also and they tried couple of times so chase charged me all this times as well as this bus.

when I tried to close my account chase CSR employee told me that it will take 48 to 72 hrs business days for this account to be closed, but if somebody makes any withdraw, it will reopen the account again, so that means that I will have more nsf charges again, I already paid so much in overcharges, this will make me pay them more nsf plus the other business charges. Can someone tell me what to do or who to talk to please?

please help

"I had signed documents for overdrafts to be paid by chase, they didn't pay those checks"

The opt-in program is for debit overdrafts; it does not include checks. Banks are not required to cover any overdrafts.

Can someone tell me what to do or who to talk to please?"

Your report is very hard to read...as a first piece of advise periods can be your friend.

Now, if I can figure out what is going on it appears you may have done a Payday Loan with a company, and they are doing Automatic Withdraws.  One(or more) of these withdraws have caused you overdrafts.  Now, it appears that Chase may have returned the withdraw unpaid causing you not only a NSF charge, but a charge from the Cash Advance place.  Based on your writing I doubt you will understand this, but let's give it a try.

Your claim is that you specifically signed up to Overdraft Coverage.  The question is what type?  If it was the "basic" overdraft where you "opted-in" to Debit Card Overdraft.  All that does is to allow them to "approve" Debit Card and ATM transactions that would put you into an Overdraft Status.  It did nothing for checks or ACH transactions.  They still maintain the option to either approve or return any Check/ACH that comes in and would put you into Overdraft.  It also has limits that is based on your account history.  This is once you are overdrawn by a certain amount they will decline every transaction.

Now, if you had Overdraft tied to another source AND that source had enough funds to cover this transaction you have a valid complaint..especially if you have the paperwork that you signed when you linked the accounts.

As for closing your account, what they are doing is standard.  They will attempt to accept any withdraws for a period of time.  This is because many people sign up for things and agree to pay them back and "think" that they can stop the withdraws by just closing their account.  So if you are closing this account to just get them to stop the withdraws that will not work.  You need to deal with the company that is actually trying to withdraw the funds.

The best advice I can give you is to live on a cash basis, or get a prepaid credit card / debit card.

You obviously don't have the discipline or adult mental capacity to properly manage a checking account.

There is no rip off here.

The bank is acting under the terms and conditions of an agreement you signed.

How is that a rip off?

You just want to make someone else accountable for your lack of discipline and account management.

Grow up.
