We were contacted by Chateau World who said we had won a digital camera and a stay at a resort in Canmore. We were required to attend a 90-minute presentation, which we did, and at the end we did not sign up. We were given the gift certificate and the ultra-cheap digital camera, but the gift certificate states that we have to attend ANOTHER 90 minute presentation while at the resort!

No one said there were additional conditions to be met when we won our "prize". We agreed to go to the first presentation, not to TWO presentations, especially not when one is required when we're trying to enjoy our "prize"! No one told us that we'd have to go to a SECOND presentation while we were at the resort.

We called Chateau World to complain and the unhelpful, bored woman kept stating, "That's the way it is". She says that it's just a "tour" to show us where the pool is, where the spa is, and all the facilities, as if people are so dumb they can't find this stuff themselves! We asked if this is optional and she said no, we HAVE to attend or the "free gift" turns into a bill for the regular amount that would normally be charged!

Unbelievable. Not worth it, STAY AWAY! What's more, we called their toll-free "reservations" line multiple times and no one ever answers. Make of that what you will!

Chateau World is clearly doing everything in their power to make sure that no one is willing or able to claim their "free gift". Unethical, deceptive, totally NOT WORTH THE HASSLE!

Well, I am doing what I thought that I might do for months now. That is to write a employee complaint against Chateau World when I quit. But I didn't quit, they let go of myself and 20 others because they couldn't afford to pay the rent at their Elbow Drive office in Calgary.

I was a Data Entry Operator since Feb. of 2007. Now all I did was when all the contest entries from the previous weekend's Trade Show comes it. I sort it out by Qualified, Not Qaulified, and Incompletes. The contests that Chateau World runs, lately it's been win a Jeep. But the truth is that you don't win a Jeep. According to Chateau World, you agreed to enter your information for our Telemarketers to call you. Those Jeep contests also asks you if you are over the age of 25 and married/common law as well as an extra question. As far as I know if you are over the age of 25 and married/common law you are qualified. If you don't check off any of the extra questions and you include your address and phone; telemarketers will still contact you to ask.

My job is to enter your information into the computer and then print them out for the telemarketers to contact you and ask if you want to go to a presentation about Timeshares. And you just entered a contest to win a Jeep.

Anyway, if you were at a Trade Show, stay away from contests where they say that you might win a trip (And ask what Credit Card you have) or a car. Do enter contests where you win a basket full of stuff.

I also should mention that Chateau World also bounces employee's cheques often and they took away the Health Benefits that was promised to all employees after 6 months work. I found that out when I was at the Pharmacy. I called our Accounting Department and I got a nasty response from them saying that the Health Company "Scammed us." And Chateau World never bother to find another company for our Health Benefits.

Also as a Data Entry Operator, for the last three months my duties became low due to some of the Leads going to the Edmonton Office. There were times where I spent the whole day playing games online because I am waiting for work. And I am not the only person that has done this, dispite the fact that the managers mentioned that "There's lots of work to be done."

They also skipped out on paying the rent as I mentioned before. Chateau World also doesn't pay their employees well and again bounces our cheques from time to time. There were even times where I haven't gotten paid do to managers not signing my timesheet.

Nevertheless, Whenever you go to a Trade Show and see a contests rewarding trips and cars, stay away from them. If you do, then you agreed to let telemarketers call you.
