I purchased a ticket for my daughter to travel home on a school trip from Dublin, Ireland through cheaptickets.com.   After four days, no confirmation had been received, no itinerary had been received, and no acknowledgment of the purchase had been received.  So, I bought tickets from another airline. Only after four days, did the purchase "hit" my credit card.  Then, when I tried to have the charges reversed, I learned that this ticket was "nonrefundable", and that I was stuck with a ticket that only my daughter could use, and that could only be used from Dublin, Ireland.  The airline, American Airlines, is unwilling to do anything to help the situation, and cheaptickets is unresponsive.
So, I have a very expensive ticket sitting there that cannot be refunded or used. At least American Airlines will let my daughter fly out of Dublin, within a year, using that ticket number, but chances of her ever going back to Ireland are very unlikely.
I have still not received anything from cheaptickets or American Airlines about the ticket or the credit.
Cheaptickets is still in business, and American Airlines is still allowing cheaptickets to do their dirty work.   Class action lawsuit anyone?
