The letter references a returned check written on 12/15/2008. They stated that their client had a returned check from my bank unpaid. They said they had been instructed to take all necessary action in a lawful manner to recover the amount due.

They stated I had failed to make restituition and that their client demands immedate payment and reserves the right to take all necessary legal action.

They stated that the balance was targeted for immediate collection and their office is not required to provide additional notice before proceeding further.

Since I had payed for a couple of checks to the store already and some had been run back through the bank since the date on this check I contacted CPS.

From the menu I selected the option to speak with someone and after a short time a female answered and asked if I was making a payment. I stated no I need to ask a few questions frst. She then transferred me to a gruff speaking male.

His first question was are you going to pay us and again I stated no. He then demanded a reference number. I asked if he was having a bad day. He said no just give me a reference number. I started to give him the number and he interrupeted me to repeat it (this was after only giving him 3 of the numbers).

He then asked me if I was going to pay. I stated that I had already told him no and that I had a few questions. I asked if they had the check or a copy of it. He said no (and not nicely). I then asked had they been contacted by the company the check was written to. He said he didn't have to answer that and that I needed to pay it.

Throughout this conversation he interrupted me several times demanding payment and after I asked who I was speaking with he told me that was irrelevant and hung up on me.
