I received a letter Saturday Jan 19, 2007 from this Check Processing Bureau (CPB) Enforcement Division claiming that I "owed" money to a Footlocker (which I've never been to a Footlocker) and a KB Toys (never been there either) for checks that had bounced. This CPB place claims they are now "collecting" the debt. The phone number listed in the letter is 1-888-238-3290 ext. 107. The address listed is Ron Adams 130 Church St. suite 276 NY, NY 10007.

After doing research online I found this Church St. address is a *Postnet Copy Centers. It is a store that assists offices and small companies with digital services, resumes, faxing, copying, shipping and more. So apparently this person (or persons) is using this place to make these letters up and sending them out.

More research found this CPB also operated under the guise of NCC (National Check Control) and CMS (Check & Merchant Services) which had operated under the name Barry Sussman. According to web report, Barry Sussman is now in hiding, (go figure).

I found also numerous complaints lodged against this CPB operation with the BBB of New York. According to the BBB, CPB solicits monies owed on bounced checks, but will not provide proof of these bounced checks to consumers requesting such. CPB is also operating unlicensed and in violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act of 1977. Why they are not shut down and the guys operating it aren't locked up is beyond me.
