11-30-2006. We got a phone call at our place of business from Check Processing Bureau stating we bounced a check in September of 1999 to Men's Warehouse in the amount of $1,064.93. We repeatedly tried to tell them this wasn't possible but they insisted we would have to explain it to a judge in court. We requested a copy of the bounced check and asked them to verify information to insure they had the right person. We were told that it wasn't their responsiblity to supply us any information.

Again, we were told it would be our responsibility to proof our position in court. They insisted they sent numerous letters to our place of business on the matter. When we told them we never received any such letter, they said, "you know who you are"! This really shook me up even though I knew something wasn't right with the phone call. I came home and went through my 1999 bank statements knowing full well I never bounced a check! I was thrilled to find this site. My thanks to all who took the time to write. I can only imagine how many people fall for this out of fear. I'll report it first thing tomorrow.
