ChecksNet, Glenn Welt Trying to force me to purchase software and forms that I have no use for. Henderson, Nevada
In 2004, a branch of my company purchased software for printing checks to facilitate automatic payments. I tested the software in my branch and purchased some of the forms for checksnet. Within a short time, I was dissatisfied with the program, and quit using it in favor of a more user-friendly product. The specific problem was that the banks would reject the checks because they looked like fake checks. It caused much embarassment and problems with my clients, and I stopped using the program.
Four years later, an associate of ChecksNet contacted me to inform me that I had purchased forms without purchasing software and that I may be using the program illegally. It took me a while to figure out what he was talking about, because it had been so long since we had even had the program, and in fact we no longer own any computers that may have had the program on it. I requested some more information and was provided with a receipt for my purchase of the forms, along with a demand that I pay for new software and new forms in a kit amounting to $214. I indicated that I would be willing to pay for a license, but since I didn't use the product, I didn't want to pay for items that I didn't need. Glenn Walt immediately posted my name and business information on a website for criminal alerts.
I have since found that the price of the original software was $88.59, and have explained to Mr. Welt that it was a mistake on my part, and I am willing to pay for that software license, even though 4 years have lapsed, and I don't use the product, and it was a horrible product in the first place. Mr. Welt has rejected my offer and has threatened further action and has also refused to communicate further with me.
If I make an honest mistake, I am more than willing to fix it, and feel that I made a fair offer to ChecksNet. I don't appreciate the extortion tactics and ridiculous allegations. My reputation is being harmed, and valuable time is being wasted.
