Complaint Review: Cheri A.

Just wanted people to be aware that the other poster is not the ONLY one to got sick puppies from this phone number. Altho the email & name are different, I do know that sveral sisters breed & sell puppies, so I guess they all use Cheri's phone number in the ads?

I found my 8 week old Doberman puppy on puppyfind.com. I contacted Cheri & asked for more info. After asking questions & getting prompt answrs to most, I decided I wanted to purchase the blue female Doberman. After discussion via email, I sent her a money order for $575. She requested a postal money order or a money transfer. I sent a Walmart money order (oops, should have been postal), after seeing the fees for the money transfers of that amount in the USA. I sent it overnight mail & she accepted it on Aug, 21, 2008.

My money order was held for quite awhile (several weeks) due to personal health issues on the breeders end. Then there were shipping delays, etc. I finally got my puppy (and another Blue female Dobe the breeder sent me "free" because she was too seriously ill to care for them any longer) at 12 weeks of age. When I picked them up I had to pay an additional $235 for shipping COD.

ow, my first puppy had had shipping pre-paid. The second puppy was supposed to be "free". We paid it because we wanted the puppies after 1 month of waiting after payment!

Anyway, we had the puppies 36 hours before the first puppy (the one we pre-paid for) came down with vomiting & awful bloody, mucussy diarrhea. She actually vomited up a 5+ inch worm! I rushed her & the second puppy to the vet. The parvovirus test came back positive & our puppy was admitted to ICU in critical condition. They said she had a very "heavy worm load" complicating her illness. I notified Cheri & she said she was sorry & she'd help in any way she could. The puppy remained in ICU for 7 days before she recovered enough to return home to us on day 8. The second puppy came down with parvo on the 3rd day. A Sunday night. We rushed her to the ER vet, knowing it was parvo too. The test proved it. She was given fluids, antibiotics & antinausea drugs & sent home with us. We rushed the second puppy to the ICU where her sister was the following morning & she was admitted as well.

She stayed for 7 days, and released to us for one night, became dehydrated, and had to be readmitted to ICU the following morning. She remained in ICU 4 more days. We were unusually lucky that they BOTH survived. The vet believes it was because we took quick action. The first puppy was sick for 4 hours before recieving care at the vet, the second less than 2 hours. It was still very touch & go for them! We maxed out 2 credit cards keping them alive....$4000 in medical bills.

The "breeder" never got in touch with us again, thu this nightmare, even thought I contacted hr sevral times with updates. When she finally does, she says 'sue me'. When the forst puppy got sick she said she will send me vet records, etc... but it's been more than 30 days & I have gotten nothing. The ad said they had papers. She blames the lost paperwork on the airline, the airline says I got them..

I have every piece of paperwork that came with my dogs & they do NOT include the crappy DRA registration papers (I thought I was buying AKC pups based on the ad & it was never explained to me that they weren't), the vet records, nor the breeders Health contract. I have repeatedly asked for help from this breeder & she claims either I did send the info already (or will), or ignores my emails saying she never geot them, OR just says "sue me". Most of the time she simply doesn't respond.
In the end she blames the whole fiasco on giving away (for $230, the cost of shipping BOTH puppies in 1 crate to me) a puppy. Strange logic.

Once I saw the rip off report for someone else getting a sick dog from the same phone number, I felt I just HAD to come here & let other know it wasn't a fluke.
If you buy any of the many breeds of puppies this seller & her sisters breed, be aware that they have potential exposure to parvovirus which is extremely hardy, extremely contagious, lives in the house/yard for YEARS (anywhere the infected puppies or anyone who's handled them has touched/walked/etc), and is very expensive to treat (there's no cure !! Only thing that helps is full vaccination in a series of 3 & then that's simply protection, not a guarantee).
Lots of puppies who get parvo die. Many die even with vet care....and almost all who do not get vet care will perish.

I am writing this simply to save others from the expense & heartbreak we have had to deal with.
