Do not trust Cherie Deslauriers-Halter of Gilbert, Arizona with your money, in your house or with any sort of business transactions. Whether Ms. Deslauriers-Halter is posing as a loan modification specialist, a realtor, or as anything else, her primary goal is to separate you from your money, and probably anything else of value that she can get her hands on. She makes promises that she knows that she can not deliver on, and will lie to cover herself. She will share your confidential information with others, and others information with you. While she signs emails with the title of Realtor, she certainly does not live up to their code of ethics.

In my case, she altered documents from the Morrison Skupin, PLLC law firm that she used to be (and still is??) an agent for to make it appear that she can collect monies and has unlimited authority to act as an authorized agent (interestingly, the lawyer whose documents she took denies any responsibility, yet refuses to file anything against her). Watch for another Rip-off report against that lawyer, Michael Skupin of Morrison Skupin, PLLC. If you choose to do business with Ms Deslauriers-Halter, verify it with anyone that she is claiming to be an agent for (or employee of), as she has likely altered the documents with her phone and fax numbers, email addresses, and other language that will help her to defraud you. Do not pay her directly if she claims to be an agent, even if the documents claim that she as the agent has unlimited authority to act. She has likely altered the documents to make it easier to defraud you.

Also beware of those that she is claiming to be doing business with or working as an agent for. The above mentioned lawyer claims that she was only hired to run two real estate BPO valuations for him, which is also a lie, as I have documents and witnesses to show that she was actively working on several loan modifications for this lawyer. Though he claims that she stole his firms identity and forms, interestingly he has never filed a police report against her, and refuses to accept any responsibility for his rogue agent.

You will see the signs of dishonesty early on when she does not sign the agreement, and does not give you a receipt of a deposit to a trust fund (or any type of receipt whatsoever). If you are always having to call her for an update, it is because she isnt working on your file, and she obviously doesnt want to contact you as she has taken your money and is not doing your work.

Be aware that she is a chronic liar, whether it is that she is working on your transaction, promising to deposit monies to a trust account, or even if it is her intent to repay after admitting that she has defrauded you. When she admits to fraud through a signed and notarized statement, even providing a promissory note to repay, then ignores it, the agenda becomes obvious When challenged about it, the lies continue with excuses such as not having any money, personal problems, etc, etc. She is so brazen that she would not even respond to a court complaint notice and summons.

Be aware that she feels that she is more entitled to your money than you are, so once she has it, you lose. And yes, this is all documented.

My Experience

I too have used Cherie Halter at Chase for my home loan. I found Cherie to be professional, courteous and knowledgeable. Concerning the comment regarding contacting her, I sat in her branch and did my application and during that time her phone rang relentlessly. I asked her if it was always that way, she said very often it was, and that is why she prefers email, as she could email answers while on conference calls or while assisting other customers and thereby manage her time to its maximum potential. She said many customers called several times per day and if you multiply that by the number of customers it was at times overwhelming. As an employee of a large corporation myself, I am aware that one's time also has numerous demands from the company itself for meetings and ongoing education etc. I am also aware that no matter how much one tries to assist a customer, sometimes the corporation itself reverses its position and your efforts are in vain.

I post this because all too often good people who really care get he short end of the stick in public opinion as they dare to take on things the average employee will not. As the saying goes, no good deed goes unpunished. I serve in a management capacity for a large corporation in the valley and can tell you from fielding complaints related to the service level of my own staff that everything is not black and white and the initial complainant is far too one sided for me to take completely serious and Kalamazoo should consider that Cherie is a loan officer and not upper level management, therefore can only advocate on behalf of her customers, the "Company" makes the ultimate decisions.

People reading from this site need to understand that unhappy people are the first to make known their feelings, and those who are happy rarely take the time to make known their feelings. I would not hesitate to use Cherie or Chase, she cares about the bank's clients and goes the extra mile.

In closing, please also understand in our over-regulated business climate that no transaction is easy for either for the service provider or the customer because we have become the most impatient, ungrateful and litigious society in the world. Thank you Ripoff report for allowing my comments.

One in the same person aka Cherie Halter

I have worked with Cherie Halter which is the same person that complaint #563733 is talking about.
Cherie Halter is working for Chase Bank as a Loan officer.
I went thru Chase Bank for a loan on a home and Cherie did my loan.
I have spoke to her on and off for the past 6 months.
My experience with her is the following.   I had a hard time reaching her by phone or by e mail
most of the time and sometimes it would take over a week for her to respond.  During the
loan process I had a hard time getting in touch with her too.  I did get my loan for my home
and during the transaction Cherie did work very hard for me when papers needed to be
processed or paperwork was needed.   I did have a problem at the end of the loan and
I am not sure what happened.    I was told by Cherie that the bank would cover a claim
after the loan was done.  And to this day the bank will not cover it.  I have tried to reach
Cherie numerous time by phone or e mail and she will not respond.  So my conclusion is
that she lied to me since she will not return my calls or emails.  I have contacted Chase Bank
and they said that they would not cover my claim and to hire an Attorney.   When working
with Cherie I always thought she was in my corner that she would go the extra mile for a client.
I still hope she will prove me wrong and come thru for me.  If she does I will post it.

Completely Different Experience

I read this and wish to report I have had a completely different experience with Cherie Deslauriers-Halter. She worked for 4 months to help us and our home was saved. She not only assisted us in obtaining a favorable solution, she also assisted my elderly mother. She went over and beyond. I was referred to her from one of my co-workers who purchased a home from her. She came highly recommended and performed beyond expectation. Because of her continued professionalism, I have recommended her to another of my friends for a home loan. Anyone reading this must remember there are always two sides to every story. I have found her to be a professional who really cares about her clients and goes the extra mile to provide service. I hope others who have used Cherie that stumble upon this will join me in reporting the positive experiences they have had with her.
