I purchased a "Show Quality" Saint Bernard puppy from Cherly Healy Whiting. I was convinced that she was the only one in the US that knew and had the very best Saint Bernards, because of the way she bragged. The words in her web site are mis leading also. I sent her $200 as a deposit. We then went through 4 litters of puppies, but she could not send me a picture of a show quality puppy. Often she did not bother to answer my emails. I was ready to back out at this point, but it was soon apparent that if I did, I would loose the deposit. Finally, many months after she got her deposit, I was sent a picture that I accepted. But, she decided this pup was so good it required an additional $200 above the previously agreed on price. I sent the money and waited for shipment. A friend of mine had also gotten a pup from this litter and said they got the email that the pup was on it's way, after the pup was in the air! They had to scramble to get to the airport on time. So I would call the airline and knew each flight it could be delivered, but she only gave me excuses as to why it did not come, and even got angry with me for asking about it. This went on for 2 weeks. Finally she shipped the pup abruptly. Now when I got the puppy, I took her picture and sent it along with the picture Cheryl had sent to me when she sold it to me, and they felt it was not even the same pup. They pointed out markings that were different.

Puppy was named Dixie. Dixie was undersized and loaded with worms. The Vet was shocked at the amount and variety of worms this pup had. It took quite some time to irradicate all the parisites from this poor dog. Then she developed Demodectic Mange, at first it looked to be localized and we thought we had it cured, then it came back with a vengence, covering much of her body and the Vets at my clinic all agreed it was an inherited gene which causes a suppressed immune system that can not control the mites which cause Demodectic Mange. Cherly Healy ofcorse denies that is the case. Dixie limps, Cheryl Healy implied that I let her grow too fast. That certianly can not be the case, Dixie is still way behind in her development. I am sure she will be diagnosed with heriditary joint problems. When Cheryl Healy last emailed me about how the pup was doing, I wrote back that she was not now and never had been show quality and could never be bred because of her problems. She certianly did not answer that letter.

When I first made friends with this woman, I felt sorry for her. She portrayed herself as a victum in many ways. So many people in the Saint Bernard show world had done her wrong. She had been unfairly kicked out of the SBCA. I have close to 200 emails about these stories. I thought I would write up something to vendicate her. But as I investigated and discovered time after time that she had lied to me, and that she became embittered with the show world, quit showing her dogs and became so careless with her breeding practices that she consistantly puts out unhealthy puppies. I could never protect or feel sorry for a person who uses her dogs for money without regard for their welfare and rips people off by keeping deposits and not selling puppies, selling pet quality pups when she said they were show quality, denies bad breeding and refuses to change breeding practices. Yes they may have some Champions in their bloodlines, but they are a ways back, back to when Cherly Healy was doing things above board and showing her dogs. I have even spoken to a Vet in her home town who verified a story about the falsifying of health certificates, using his name. He wanted to sue Cheyl Healy for this, but she made her daughter, Amanda take the fall for it. I doubt that anyone other than Cheryl Healy Whiting wrote any of the rebuttals you see. She sold one pup that arrived dead. She sold countless others that lived horrible lives due to her bad breeding practices. I have come to know 7 other people she has sold puppies to that are very unhappy about the puppies health. None are show quality. I can not find any one person that she has sold a puppy to that is happy with it. Those people are either ficticious or extremely lucky! She does not care about the pups, or you, just your money. She is angry with the Saint world in general. Everyone else is the bad guy and she is the victum. If you buy into her stories, you will get burned!

It means nothing

The only offer I have ever been given for another pup was during the origional sales pitch! If I showed Dixie to Championship, I would be given another show quality puppy free! I can see now, how she can make that promise. She does not have to ever worry about giving the free puppy. No, I GOT NO RETURN REPLY BY EMAIL from Cheryl when I informed her the puppy was not show quality and could never be bred!
I am sure there are a number of healthy dogs that come from her kennel, mine was not one of them. For a time I was in denial, I wanted so bad to believe Dixie would be OK and be show quality, but she is not. Even at her best without the worms, mange and limping, she was not show quality. I finally had to admit she has a genetic problem that could have been avoided with proper breeding and then learned I am not the first to get a pup with this flaw! Then further investigation revealed several other genetic flaws that have shown up in her dogs, and several other ways she has conned people.
How could I ask the happy Healy dog owners any questions? There has been no contact information. But what value could it have? Those who own a dog from these lines certianly must protect them. It is in their best interest to do so. They don't want to believe there could be anything wrong, as that could jepordize the value of their own dogs. Their testimony could mean very little to me or to any prospective puppy buyer.
Yes, I am aware you are a member of the SBCA. I immagine there are a few people that are satisfied with their Healy dogs. And so she has her little band of followers and protectors. I was once one of them. As long as I was trying to believe Dixie was OK, I did protect her and the Healy line.
Pointed means very little to me. Cheryl Healy herself said in one of her emails to me that "You can make any dog a Champion!" Pointed is just on it's way, but has not arrived.
Public records speak volumes more than any person who has bought a pup and been happy with it.
I am an independant and do not fall prey to group thinking, if there is an organized movement to defame Cheryl Healy, I am not aware of it. (ie; "Did you talk to anyone other than the vindictive circle that form an admitted conspiracy to smear Healy's Noble Friends?") I could discover no vindictive circle, no conspiracy to smear,...I feel this is a figment of Cheryl Healy's immagination, a natural assumption of a person who feels victumized. I have many, many stories in my files, from many people, people who ARE reputable breeders, whose show pups do turn out to be show dogs, who have no reason to feel threatened by Cheryl Healy, but have become disgusted with her practices.
Let me make one thing very clear. I would not be unhappy, or on this page, if I had gotten a healthy show quality puppy from Cheryl Healy. I would not have uncovered all the other unhappy puppy owners, if I had not been duped myself! I would never have investigated why she is really not a part of SBCA. I would also be looking to her for advice and think she was wonderful and had wonderful dogs, if I had gotten a wonderful dog!
If I can help ONE OTHER PERSON keep from falling prey to the pain I and my pupy have been caused, than it is worth it to me to stand up for what is right! Say anything you want about me. It means nothing!

Do More Investigation

First of all I would like to know who "they" are as in "they felt it was not the same pup"

Secondly when you E mailed Cheryl that you did not feel that she was not a show quality pup weren't you offered a replacement puppy in a return E mail?

Third point - I understand you are a writer or author - I certainly hope you check your facts better, research more thoroughly, and investigate further than you did for Cheryl. Did you investigate ? Did you talk to anyone other than the vindictive circle that form an admitted conspiracy to smear Healy's Noble Friends? You disregard the people who come to Cheryl's defense and tell their experiences and dismiss them as non existant.

I do exist, I did write the rebuttle as did Cynthia, Christina, Bonnie and Dr. Stacy. Did you contact any of us in your research? No because you would not have liked what we had to say. You did not look very far to find any one who is a satisfied, happy Healy pup owner, and if you read their posts you dismiss them as non existant. Without even investigating.

I am the owner of "Ben" Healy's Benedict What A Guy.He was sired by CH. Healy's Ice Breaker Oh No
I have his AKC papers and he has been shown and pointed.I have a grand daughter of CH.Healy's Rollin and a Strollin". Also with AKC registration.I Have gotten puppies from Cheryl and done business with her for 12 years now and I would not get a puppy from any one else or seek advice from anyone else. All the dogs I have gotten have been shown and pointed. One b***h we hope to finish shortly, and we are working on her draft dog title.Cynthia has a young b***h who is pointed and Bonnie has a CD and a young b***h who got her first major at 18 months. You can verify all this with AKC and you can see Healy and Dixie land Champions in the SBCA annuals. All of my dogs cart, and love it, They couldn't do this if any structural problems, at least not happily. We give wagon rides to raise money for Saint Bernard Rescue.By the way I am a member of the SBCA

No Happy Healy owners, you better do more research and investigation.

Yes, Cheeryl is angry with some of the Saint world and with good reason. If you had done what you said, and looked a little farther, you would know why.
