I am quite befuddled by this individual. I have bought many items from him over a period of years and have had pretty good service. A couple of times when I enquired as to when a shipment might arrive, I would receive an unexpectedly brusque reply, but I always gots my books in the end.

There were times when I expressed concern that videos had arrived without covers, and received the typical "tough s**t" kind of reply from Michael, but generally there was a good service.

Then I placed a series of orders to him through eBay, then it all changed. I received an email from this nutbag, suggesting that I was not playing the game, as his eBay listings were meant to be a "hook" to get people to buy the full priced items from his internet catalogue, and that I was not playing "the game".

So I paid for all the purchases and shipping, and only half of it arrived.

After contacting him about the difficiencies (10 books, 6 videos) and him denying payment was made, and when payment confirmation was sent to him (Paypal), he waited until the eBay feedback and Visa Card resolution periods had expired before indicating that he had no interest in honoring or reimbursing the purchases.

I believe that he is an extremely unreliable and difficult seller, where you can get great service, but has absolutely no interest in fixing up his f*** ups. He is a difficult individual who will refuse to answer your emails, an employ friends to log on and try and paint an unrealistic picture. i suggest you check out www.rocklimbimbing.com and conduct a search. There are a LOT of unhappy ex-customers of Michael Chessler, and it is quite clear he has logged on under pseudonyms to undermine what is clearly an accurate description of his idiosyncratic practices.

i find this an interesting report-  i have had only good experiences with chessler over the last two decades plus, and having stumbled upon this string of online bashing, i felt i should provide some counterpoint.

of the four i have read, this is the only complaint that offers some history, and depth of context.

i too, have had both good service, and experienced what some would construe as brusqueness from michael chessler; unlike matt from kooringal, i have experienced no change in service over the years, nor has michael chessler's seeming impatience ever proved to be anything more than a conversational efficiency, meant to get us onto the substance of the matter in discussion.

i am kind of tripped out by the assertion that chessler is logging onto forums under pseudonyms to "undermine what is clearly an accurate description of his idiosyncratic practices."

for what it is worth, i ain't him.  also, for what it is worth, he doesn't know me, so no wind is being blown up any skirt here.

my search of (((Redacted))) yielded no complaints less than six or seven years old, and then was inundated with back and forth "he said she said" over the hearsay surrounding the batso matter.  pretty insubstantial stuff in my book.

i am sorry to hear that matt had an unpleasant experience with chessler, but i hope that the rest of the world will continue to do business with this company.  chessler has been incorporated for twenty six years, and i have been buying from them for twenty four of those years-  i have yet to be disappointed.

i suppose that it is possible that michael chessler has lost his mind, and would throw a rabid ferret at me if i wandered upon him in the street, but the order i placed online last friday night, arrived tuesday morning, intact, and stowed inside the storm door per request.  that's two business days, if you have not yet whipped out your abacus.

the long and short of it is, it would be a rare occasion if you were to be unhappy with a chessler order.
