Chevron Business Cards has charged a $39.00 late fee plus interest on a bill that was paid on time. They were informed via phone that the bill was paid, refused to acknowledge that fact then sent another statement with another $39.00 late fee for the first late fee not being paid. The total at this point is about $84.00 in late fees for a zero balance account that has been paid on time and in full.

We again called their customer service # and were told that there was nothing that they could do. We wrote a letter to Chevron telling them to either reverse the invalid late fees or close the account. We received a call from Chevron regarding our letter informing us that the fees were valid and the account had to be closed via a written request and that it would remain open, obvoiusly to add more late fees.

When told that the letter that they had called us about  informed them in writing that the account was to be closed the representative claimed that the letter had been folded and torn so she could not read that part of it. When we told her that we had a copy and would e-mail another to her she claimed that the letter had to be on our company letterhead. When we told her that it was written on our letterhead she  then said that we needed to use their own form to close the account. We told them that the bogus late fees wouldn't be paid and that since they had been informed in writing as they request we consider the account closed. We'll see what happens from here.
