I called Chewonki a few weeks before I would need a campsite, at the behest of my husband. They have a good reputation around the Mid-Coast. I was not told on the phone that they don't give refunds. Later that evening my plans changed slightly, my friend said I could stay with them. So I called Chewonki back the next morning after I booked, they told me then they don't give refunds. I believe thats illegal....Ann could have easily refunded me. But she refused. She won't allow transfers either. So I advise she not be rewarded for this practice. Stay away.

Wow who are you? Ann's brother? How is this your business? Why don't you read what I posted instead of just trolling me. Its no skin off anyone's nose to give a refund the day after I called. Its proper business practices. Its goodwill. As I said I lived in town 10 years so I know a lot of people there. I will get a refund. It will happen. It's up to Ann how much her name is dragged through the mud.

Refunds.....

Its YOUR job as the consumer to ASK!!! DO not expect that they are going to waste thier time explaining the refund policy. Its on YOU to ask about what thier policy is on refunds. If there is any chance that your plans may change then you must ask BEFORE you make a reservation. Many times your amount paid on a reservation is forfiet when you cancel. Im not going to try and explain basic business to you, its not going to matter. It is what it is. Had you asked about thier refund policy ahead of time you would have known this, but NOW after the fact YOU want to play the victim when you are told no. Get over it, you have done this to yourself. This is the cost of changing your plans AFTER making those plans. No its NOT illegal, YOU were paying THEM to hold an area of space for you much like a hotel room. They do this and then you change your plans and they now have a section of space that was earmarked for YOU now empty that they may not be able to fill. That is why you wont be getting a refund. Im pretty sure they could have transfered it but given the tone of your post one can guess that you are not a nice person to deal with.
