We used Chicago Title in November 2002. The loan was funded on nov., 27 and the recording took place on Dec., 2nd. We had to pay interest, tax and insurance for 5 days before we became owners of the property.

In July, 2003 we received a letter from the county treasurer that the taxes for the 2nd halft of 2002 had not been paid. The bill included a $ 17 late fee. The Chicago employee, Mrs. Susan Rogers who had done the closing with us never even mentioned that the taxes for the second half of 2002 still had to be paid nor did she show any tax bill or statement to us.

When calling the escrow officer at Chicago Title she promised that she would get the file and call back within 2 days. After 3 weeks she still had not called and we sent a fax to Mr. Marsh. No response at all. Only after contacting the general manager, Mr. Fortney, Mr. Marsh became active and responded, that it does not matter, when a buyer actually becomes the owner of a house. Not the date of the recording, but the funding matters to them. He did not want to refund the $ 17 late fee either because he believes that Chicago is not responsible. We have bought several houses and this was the first time we used Chicago Title. We can't recommend these clowns to anybody.

By the way: Mrs. Susan Rogers left the company a few weeks after our closing. Fired ?
