The child support unit is a rip off!! they are supposed to make sure that everyone is getting their child support so that they can care for their children, and it seems as though they dont give a dam if anyone gets their support or not!! when you are getting a court ordered support check through malone ny, they are to be nmaking sure that the check comes in every week as the father/mother is getting their pay check as well!!

The caseworkers in malone try to tell us that the employer sending the checks for the garnished wages of the father/mother does not have to mail the checks for 10 days. now why is it that the father/mother gets their pay checks but we have to wait 2 sometimes 3 weeks before recieving one single check. and they dont even send you a makeup check for the weeks you didnt get one either. why is this?? doesnt it seem a little funny?? the attourney general says that this is very illegal for any employer to hold a check for 10 days. it is to be taken out of the check every week and mailed in by friday mornings. the laws today are for the children and the children are the ones whom suffer when they are not getting things they need, such as diapers, clothes, wipes, car seats, food, shoes, jackets and anything else that they could use.....

The caseworkers are supposed to be their for the parent trying to get their money and it seems as though they are working against us. then they try to tell you oh dont worry the money your not recieving goes to their arrears!well poop, i think that is total horse-turd as well. we dont need to wait for the arrears, we need the money now!! who will ever see their arrears especially when they are over $5000 in the arrears to begin with!! what ever happened to taking things away from the responsible party that owes the support, until they catch up the support. they should be punished just as they punish their children!!

Some Suggestions For You

#2Consumer Suggestion

Fri, September 27, 2002

I have several suggestions for you.

First, start by writing a letter (or sending an E-mail) to your congressman/congresswoman. They are required to respond. Also, try your state senator. (Your congressperson may refer you to your state senator anyway).

Also, check your state web site and find out the amount of time that your child support agency has to release funds. For example, I found out that the State of Ohio has 2 business days to release funds once they are received.

A couple of years ago, Ohio changed their computer system, and used that as their excuse for holding child support checks for weeks. I found out, however, that technology is NO excuse.

They should manually process checks in the event that they can not process computerized checks. If none of these avenues work, try the down and dirty task of calling a local TV station and get in touch with an investigative reporter. Government agencies do NOT like being in the spotlight.
