Choice Home Warranty Denied Claims Despite Expert Diagnosis from Their Own Service Agents Edison New Jersey

I am writing to formally request an investigation into the business practices of Choice Home Warranty, as I believe they are fraudulently denying legitimate claims and engaging in deceptive practices with their customers.

I purchased a "Total Plan" home warranty from Choice Home Warranty, and after paying my first month’s premium of $54.50, my air conditioning unit stopped blowing cold air. Choice Home Warranty sent Luxor Heating and Air, a company of their choice, to diagnose the issue. Luxor’s technician found that the fan on the outside condenser unit had split in half, likely due to normal wear and tear on the bearings or bolts, which subsequently caused damage to the condenser coils. I paid Luxor $100 for the diagnosis, as required by the warranty agreement.

Despite the clear diagnosis from their chosen third-party expert, Choice Home Warranty denied my claim, asserting that the damage was not caused by normal wear and tear. This decision directly contradicted the findings of their own expert. I appealed the decision, providing additional evidence from forums, websites, and even the AC unit manufacturer, Goodman, all of which confirmed that this type of issue can be caused by normal wear and tear due to the age of the unit. However, Choice Home Warranty continued to deny the claim.

This troubling behavior appears to be part of a widespread pattern. Hundreds, if not thousands, of other consumers have lodged similar complaints against Choice Home Warranty on the Better Business Bureau website, Google reviews, and other review platforms. This indicates that their practice of denying legitimate claims is not an isolated incident but a regular practice.

Given these patterns, I am requesting that the Consumer Protection Agency investigate Choice Home Warranty for potential fraudulent and unethical practices. I believe a thorough investigation is necessary to protect consumers from further financial harm and to ensure this company is held accountable for its actions.
