Chris Murphy Offered to purchase item listed on Craig's List, sent check and asked for cash Charlotte North Carolina
My son advertised a guitar for sale on Craig's List. Chris Murphy contacted him via text and offered to buy it. He sent my son a check from Randolph College Incorporated in Lynchburg, VA, for $2450.42, and asked him to cash the check and pay the movers he was having pick up the guitar. When the bank put a hold on the check, he asked my son to go ahead and withdraw his own money to pay the movers before the check cleared. Fortunately my son didn't have the cash available to do so, and told Chris that, so he did not lose any money. Once Chris found out he wasn't getting any money, he stopped contacting my son.
